Upton

That’s a wrap What a lovely week of UptonHouse@Home assemblies to take us into the summer holidays. There was reflection, celebration and farewells. Mrs Hewitt started the week reminding us all that togetherness isn’t just about connecting with each other but also ourselves. She shared the wonderful story Only One You by Linda Kranz about a little fish called Adri and the wisdom shared by his parents. They ended the story reminding Adri, and all of us, that “There is only one you in this great big world…make it a better place”. Miss Smith was up next with a carnival complete with handmade floats from Form 4. Celebrating the best things from a selection of countries and cultures around the world. Work from all the prep children was shared, there was baking of traditional flatbread from Egypt, homemade traditional dress from Fiji to a 3D model of the Eiffel Tower. Wednesday was Mrs Webb’s turn and she shared with us her favourite things, from poems, stories, films and animals. We had to think about how we all have favourite things and that it’s ok if they are different from our friends. With technology misbehaving on Thursday some of the staff who are leaving us received a double goodbye with a rerun of the assembly later in the morning. There were tears but we also celebrated our time with those that are moving on to a new chapter in their lives. We wish them all the very best of luck and thanked them for everything they have done for us during their either short or long time at Upton. The children made videos and posters as a way to say thank you and farewell for their teachers while they can’t be together – it was very emotional. For a recap of today’s Form 6 leavers’ assembly watch out for the Upton Update in your inbox next week.
