University Announces Honorary Doctorates and Fellowships The University of Gloucestershire has announced the names of outstanding individuals connected to Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds who will receive honorary awards at this year's graduation ceremonies. Those receiving honorary awards include: Carol Francis, Andy Hunt, Alex James, Rt Rev James Jones, Robert Macfarlane, Ian Mean, Diane Savory OBE, Michael Tripp and Dale Vince. More...

Universities Minister visits Gloucestershire Universities and Science Minister, the Rt Hon David Willetts MP visited the University on Wednesday evening, prior to spending A level results day at UCAS in Cheltenham. Mr Willetts met with Vice-Chancellor Stephen Marston and other members of staff to talk about the University’s economic impact, plans for future development, international recruitment and industry links. Students' Union Launch Greener Gloucestershire The University of Gloucestershire's Students' Union (SU) has announced the launch of Greener Gloucestershire following a successful bid to win a portion of the National Union of Students (NUS) Students' Green Fund. The new transformative sustainability project aims to create a huge increase in environmental activity within the University and beyond. Working in Partnership with Rockford, Illinois Staff and students at the University of Gloucestershire are working with Rockford, Illinois to create an edible show garden at the Malvern Autumn Show.

All Golds Business Breakfast President of the Rugby Football League, David Oxley CBE will be speaking at the All Golds Business Breakfast on Friday 13th September. If you would like to come and join us for what will be an inspiring talk email the Alumni Office for further details.

Known as the city of gardens, the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB) was at the centre of a competition for the University's students to create an edible garden inspired by Rockford. The concepts were judged by a panel of experts from Illinois and the winning design, by Jake Poloni and Steve Mann will be featured at the Malvern Autumn Show. Their winning entry was one of five which were turned into a two minute video presentation outlining the details of their design. More...

Although it has taken over five years to bring the late Ron Prewer's, alumnus of St Paul's Practising School, dream of restoring the St Paul's Practising School World War I and creating the World War II Memorial Boards to fruition, we are very pleased to announce that the boards have now been installed into the North Porch on our FCH Campus and, we hope you agree, they look fantastic. So, when you're visiting or passing our FCH campus in the furture, don't forget to pop into the North Porch and view the boards. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the Alumni Office and Archives team in helping us achieve Ron's dream. We only wish Ron was here to see them.

St Paul's 1963 - 1966 Reunion - 23rd November To celebrate 50 years since starting at college a reunion for the class of 1963-66 will be taking place at the University's FCH Campus on Saturday 23rd November. If you are interested in attending this reunion or would like further information please get in touch. And don't forget to spread the word that this reunion is taking place.

School of Leisure Reunion - 2014 The School of Leisure and Alumni Office are currently planning to hold a reunion in 2014 and would like to trace all former students from the following courses, Events Management, Hospitality Management Leisure Management, Performing Arts, Play and Playwork, Sports Management, Tourism Management. So, if you graduated from any of the above courses and would like further information on the upcoming reunion then please get in touch

Stop the Heartbreak Campaign The University of Gloucestershire and The Citizen newspaper have joined forces to help provide vital cardiac testing for young people around the county. The Stop the Heartbreak campaign was launched by the newspaper following a number of tragic incidents where youngsters around Gloucestershire died suddenly from cardiac issues. Their aim is to raise £7,000 which will pay for 200 young people aged between 14 and 35 to have potentially life-saving screening at a special event at the University in April 2014. More...

Searching for Resilience in Sustainable Development Examines ways in which resilience may be created within the web of ecological, socio-economic and cultural systems that make up the world in. The authors embark upon a learning journey exploring both robust and fragile systems and asking questions of groups and individuals actively involved in building or maintaining resilience. More... Former St Mary's College students Christine Flatters (nee Broad) and Margaret Creudli (nee Lowe) both 1959-61 met up in Avranches, France in July for a mini reunion.

Stay Involved! Although you are welcome to simply receive our e-newsletter, sit back and read about the university and its alumni and friends, you are also invited to become actively involved in the ongoing development of the alumni association. Here are a few examples of how you can get involved. Inspire others Can you inspire others by sharing your journey from graduating to where you are now? Whether you've travelled the world, pursued a career different to what you originally had in mind when you started at UOG, started your own business, etc since graduating we would love to hear from you.

Organise or Host a reunion Why not reconnect with your fellow former students and organise a reunion or event. The Alumni Office is on hand to help and guide you through the processes of organising an event or reunion. Just think...What are your fellow former students doing now? If you are interested in or would like help organising a reunion or event please get in touch. Finding lost alumni There are a number of graduates, that for a variety of reasons, we have lost touch with over the years. We would very much like to re-establish a connection with them and so like many other universities we have added a list of lost alumni to our website If one of your classmates appears on the list then we are missing their postal address, email address, phone number or all three! Please let them know and encourage them to get in touch Recruit a graduate Contact our Careers Centre if you are in the position to advertise vacancies within your company. We can advertise your vacancies to some brilliant students and graduates free of charge
