University Launches Inaugural Lecture Series

A recent graduate from the University of Gloucestershire is taking part in the launch of the 2014 Josh Edmonds Memorial Scheme.

Alumni in Vietnam Come Together!

 

 

In November, the University held its' first alumni events overseas in Vietnam. The Ho Chi Minh event held at Noa restaurant on the 6th November, was attended by more than 50 graduates and despite the negative weather effects of typhoon Haiyan, 35 graduates attended the event held at the Silk Path Hotel in Hanoi on the afternoon of Sunday 9th November. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr Richard O'Doherty gave a welcome and congratulations speech to the alumni and updated them on future development plans for the University of Gloucestershire. Sioned Evans, Head of International Student Recruitment who was present at the Ho Chi Minh City event outlined the

benefits of joining the University of Gloucestershire alumni association and encouraged alumni to keep in touch with the University.

Our new Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education pins are now available to purchase through our online store. They cost £3 each and all proceeds will be donated to the University's Annual Fund for Excellence, which supports our current students.

School of Leisure Reunion 2014 The School of Leisure and Alumni Office are currently planning to hold a reunion in 2014 and would like to trace all former students from the following courses, Events Management, Hospitality Management Leisure Management, Performing Arts, Play and Playwork, Sports Management, Tourism Management. So, if you graduated from any of the above courses and would like further information on the upcoming reunion then please get in touch

St Paul's 1963-66 Reunion A group of St Paul's 1963-66 former students returned to campus in November for a long overdue reunion, which for some was their first time back to college since graduating in 1966. They enjoyed touring the old haunts of Cheltenham, FCH Campus and sharing memories of their time at college over drinks in the SU bar and evening dinner. Following on from their reunion the 1963-66 year group are working with your Alumni Office to trace and re-connect with the remaining 144 former students of this year group. So, if you are or know the whereabouts of or are in touch with a former 1963-66 Paul then please get in touch.

  St Paul's Practising School Old Boys Association Christmas Reunion Former students from the St Paul's Practising School came together in December for their annual Christmas reunion at the Albion Club, Cheltenham. The day was enjoyed by sharing memories over a buffet lunch, mince pies, raffle and a competitive game of skittles. A great time was had by all! The Old Boys Association is planning a number of days out to places of interest in the new year, so don't forget to check out your Alumni Associations website at www.glos.ac.uk/alumni for further details. Job Opportunities

Paid Teaching or Coaching Placements, Spain There are opportunities to place 20 graduates in Spanish schools and coaching placements (teaching/coaching in English!). These are paid placements for the duration of 10 weeks. If you are interested or for more information please contact either Jo Shire or Lorea Sarobe. The placements can take place anytime from January 2014 onwards.

Lost and Found Richard Myerscough (St Paul's College, 1968) is trying to find John Lewis Ward (St Paul's College, 1968) who was also friends with Dick Sahton and John Parrick. Murray MacMillan (CGCHE, 1997) is trying to find Rebecca Morris (CGCHE, BEd 1966). We are currently trying to trace and re-connect with all former students from St Paul's College 1963-66, so that we can re-connect them with their fellow former students. Stay Involved! Although you are welcome to simply receive our e-newsletter, sit back and read about the university and its alumni and friends, you are also invited to become actively involved in the ongoing development of the alumni association. Here are a few examples of how you can get involved. Inspire others Can you inspire others by sharing your journey from graduating to where you are now? Whether you've travelled the world, pursued a career different to what you originally had in mind when you started at UOG, started your own business, etc since graduating we would love to hear from you.

Organise or Host a reunion Why not reconnect with your fellow former students and organise a reunion or event. The Alumni Office is on hand to help and guide you through the processes of organising an event or reunion. Just think...What are your fellow former students doing now? If you are interested in or would like help organising a reunion or event please get in touch. Finding lost alumni There are a number of graduates, that for a variety of reasons, we have lost touch with over the years. We would very much like to re-establish a connection with them and so like many other universities we have added a list of lost alumni to our website If one of your classmates appears on the list then we are missing their postal address, email address, phone number or all three! Please let them know and encourage them to get in touch Recruit a graduate Contact our Careers Centre if you are in the position to advertise vacancies within your company. We can advertise your vacancies to some brilliant students and graduates free of charge
