THE SPIRIT OF PHILANTHROPY was celebrated on Nov. 5, 2011 during the Founders’ Gala, USD’s signature fundraising event. This year, more than $425,000 was raised for the Founders’ Endowed Scholarship Fund, which provides much-needed financial support to students. The inaugural Founders’ Gala took place in 2009; nearly $1 million has been raised since its inception. Honorary gala chair Darlene V. Shiley is pictured at right with USD President Mary E.
