NEW

MSc in Business Informatics This programme is jointly conceived and delivered by The Business School and The School of Informatics. The new MSc in Business informatics will provide students with a critical and practical appreciation of how new information technologies (IT) can be used in organisation to exploit information resources in order to create business value, and with the technical skills to develop and implement the information solutions required to deliver this value in organisations. In recent years, new information technologies have become important enablers of new kinds of products and services, and new forms of business models. Businesses are finding radical new ways to work together, interact with their customers, and organise their complex supply chains and production networks. At the core of this transformation lies the ability of organisation to manage increasing amounts of data. The programme targets this growing market for “data analytics”. It aims to fill in the gap between the knowledge of the technical IT data analytics tools and techniques that are provided by existing data analytics computing programmes, and the understanding of the business role of IT and information resources in organisation.

Programme structure The programme is split equally between IT technical and management courses. Seven core courses form the foundation upon which the MSc is build. Students then choose two option courses from a range of Business/ Management or Informatics electives including - Innovation driven entrepreneurship -H igh performance computing for business - Applied databases - Data mining & exploration Finally you undertake your dissertation which brings together all the year’s learning in a unique piece of work.
