TRANSFER TESTIMONIAL “I transferred to UNT after attending Lone Star College in the Houston area for a year. I decided to transfer to a university because I had decided on a major and wanted to start taking classes in my field as soon as possible. I chose UNT because when I came to take a tour I fell in love with the campus and Denton in general. I had an amazing tour guide who really had a love for this school and she also happened to be majoring in Speech Pathology like me and answered questions I had about my specific program. When I first got here it was honestly pretty scary for me because I am not an "out there" type of person and there are a lot of people here. However, after a few weeks of going to classes and exploring all the things (events, clubs, resources) UNT has to offer I started to really feel like I was part of the UNT community. Get Involved! I know a million and one people have probably told you this, but it is so very true. The best way to get comfortable at UNT is to meet people who share a similar interest, and since there are 400+ organizations here at UNT there's bound to be something that sparks your interest! Step out of your comfort zone! If you’re like me, and the thought of meeting new people is just slightly frightening, coming to a large university like UNT is likely going to make you uncomfortable. It's OKAY; the more you step out there and feel a little uncomfortable the more Kelsey comfortable you will get! I have never regretted stepping out of my comfort zone here at UNT since there are so many supportive people here to help me feel Major: Speech comfortable.”

One of the best things about UNT is our very diverse student population. Throughout the school year, there are several events and displays celebrating the different cultures and heritages of our student body. September 15th marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, which celebrates the many cultures of individuals whose families originate from Central & South America. Check out some of these events: 10TH UNT Media Library: Latinos Beyond the Reel 6-8PM - Chilton Hall 111C 24TH College of Music: Festival Brasileiro 7:30PM - Voertman Hall 25TH Multicultural Center: Carnaval 11AM-1PM - Library Mall
