During the first week of the Spring 2013 semester, the Transfer Center will host a series of events known as

Winter Week. The Transfer Center will offer opportunities to both new and old transfer students to become more familiar with the Mean Green lifestyle as well as a chance to meet new people. On Wednesday, January 16th, the Transfer Center will host Transfer Tips from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. At

this event, you’ll learn all there is to know about UNT, how to make the most of your first semester here and what to do for fun. Transfer Tips will also feature a transfer panel that will be available to answer any questions regarding a major college transition. You can find the transfer ambassadors, transfer panel and your fellow students in the University Union 412! Another event we have planned for Winter Week is Winter Welcome. On

Thursday, January 17th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Transfer Center will be providing hot chocolate, snacks, games and more! You can also find this event in the University Union room 411. We hope you’ve enjoyed you winter break and are ready to get back to your studies. But before you flip your academic switch back on, be sure to pay the Transfer Center a visit!

year resolutions

1 2 3 4 5 Get healthy.

Get fit.

Start off the new year with cutting down on portion sizes by eating on smaller plates. This will make your meal look larger than what it is. Keep healthy snacks like dried fruits or nuts with you to avoid a bad last minuet decision at the snack machine. Also, try to stay hydrated by keeping a water bottle with you through out the day.

Get involved.

Get smart.

Allow yourself time to come up with a study plan to help you navigate those stressful college days. Set aside time in your schedule every day to study. During this time, turn off your phone and log out of social media. Use all of your necessary resources to get the most out of your tuition and make a killer GPA!

Whatever exercise works for you, stick with it! If you’ve been away from the gym for a while, don’t force yourself to perform at high speeds for a long period of time. Start slow (at least 30 minutes each workout) and gradually increase your routine. Continue to drink a lot of water and get plenty of rest. Weight loss usually happens when you’re fast asleep! Also, grab a friend and check out a class at the rec. There are even several free options!

UNT’s Student Activities center has great resources to help you discover your niche. Furthermore, there are a lot of organizations looking for new members at the start of each semester. What better way to make your mark than right now? Check out Student Activities in Union Suite 320 or log onto to learn more information about student organizations.

Get friends.

Make yourself available. There are over 36,000 students at UNT right now! One, or a few, of them are bound to enjoy the same things you do. Start off by making friends in class or attend a school function that interests you. Check out to find out what event you can attend today!

How can we help make 2013 your best year yet? We are always welcome to suggestions for programs, events, and services. Never hesitate to contact us. 940.369.7287
