Endowed Scholarship Created in Memory of Patricia Getson
Sts. Francis & Clare Week Celebrated in October for Feast of St. Francis
The spirit and legacy of long-time University of St. Francis (USF) employee,
lots of reasons to celebrate our patrons!
Athletics Department for 35 years. “Pat served the university with respect, integrity and unbelievable compassion,” remarked Athletic Director Dave Laketa. Getson was a kind, generous co-worker, according to Laketa, and she
most enjoyed interacting with the students she encountered daily. The Bellahs felt it was important to create a scholarship in Getson’s memory because of the impact she had on their lives as undergraduates and several years later as alumni. “Pat’s passion and genuine love for the school and all the students
that attended, along with her constant smile and heartfelt enthusiasm, was something that made us feel a true part of the St. Francis family,” recalled Bill Bellah. The Patricia Getson Endowed Scholarship will be awarded yearly
to two junior students who have a financial need and demonstrate a strong commitment to the university and the community it serves. They will also be students who live the Franciscan mission on a daily basis, just like Pat did.
DAY O F G IVIN G RE S U LT S On Oct. 13, 241 donors passed on their blessings by participating in USF’s 2017 Day of Giving. In a show of gratitude for the opportunities they’ve experienced at USF, donor contributions totaled $27,061. The University of St. Francis is thankful for not only the gifts, but also for the fun—Day of Giving has become a great way for alumni and friends of all ages to come together in camaraderie and support of University of St. Francis students.
