Media, Promotional Culture and Advertising BA(Hons)

Advertising and promotion powers the economy and politics, shaping public opinion, channelling audience fantasies and desires. In studying Media, Advertising and Promotional Culture at the University of Huddersfield, you will think about the role of advertising, PR and promotion in society while developing the skills needed to succeed in those industries. You’ll be given the tools to examine media examples, will gain understanding of how media industries are funded, learn techniques in which to conduct audience and market research, and think about the role of public relations in society. You will also be given the technical and creative skills central to the media, advertising and promotional industries, developing a professional

portfolio of your work. You will learn to write advertising copy and press releases, make and distribute promotional videos, and manage social media accounts. To demonstrate these skills, you will also be given industry placements, where you can learn first-hand from professionals and establish industry contacts. Supported by internationally renowned professors and researchers, leading media professionals and practitioners, and industry standard facilities, Media, Advertising and Promotional Culture will give you a critical understanding of the key issues while arming you with an advertising and promotional portfolio to shape the media, advertising and promotional industries in the future.
