Folklore This course will present a general introduction to the study of Folklore, offering students an opportunity to study everyday or ordinary life in all of its diversity and vast range of cultural expressions. The subject aims to begin the exploration of the cultural traditions, expressions and experiences of people. It aims to approach in a scholarly way the interpretations and expressions of people as folklore. These expressions are articulated variously in narrative and story, ritual and belief or in material ways. Geography This course provides a general introduction to Geography, a discipline with deep roots in the humanities, the social sciences and the physical-biological sciences. The classes will examine the complex interactions between global and local forces on culture, economy, and the physical environment. Students will learn to examine these issues using different geographical methodologies. German This course offers a solid introduction to the most widely-spoken language in the EU. Students will acquire elementary speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in German. Being competent in German opens the gateway to the intellectual, economic and cultural riches of Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The linguistic and intercultural communication skills acquired in this course will help you to make important personal connections as well as contacts with a wide range of potential employers.
