Careers Help after Graduation Where to find the help you need and when you want it
So you’ve made it to Graduation Congratulations! But what do you do next? And who is around to provide some expert support along the way? A couple of important facts • Did you know as a Reading graduate you can still use all the facilities at the Careers Service after graduation!? • You can use our facilities whether you are staying around Reading or moving away. This PDF outlines a few ways you can access our services to help you sort your future.
Where to find jobs Since last September your Careers Service advertised over 1300 graduate jobs. We reckon to advertise hundreds more over the next few months.
Where can I find out more? • To see what jobs we are advertising on a daily basis go to www.reading.ac.uk/careers/jobs • Or better still sign up on line and we’ll send you a list of our latest jobs every week: cas-vacancies • Can’t find what you want? Thousands of jobs are advertised on specialist websites or on less open sites or can only be accessed through networking and speculative applications. To find out where the jobs are that are relevant to you talk to a careers adviser face to face or via the email link • See our advert at the back of this pdf for the GradSEED programme – ideal for Reading graduates
Need help sorting your CV?
Most graduates fail to produce a quality targeted CV or application. Email yours to us and we’ll give it the look over and then get back to you with some practical tips on how to make it stand out from the competition.
Not sure what you want to do next? • Many students graduating from Reading are still unclear what they want to do. Use our e-guidance system to get things going. Just drop us a line telling us your thoughts and we’ll be in contact. • Check out the ‘options with your degree’ at www.reading.ac.uk/careers/graduate/options.asp • Alternatively you are welcome to get in touch and meet up with an adviser face to face to get some ideas together. Just ring our Careers Reception to find out when we are open and how to go about seeing a Careers Adviser – 0118 378 8359
