Sleep to Wake : Robert Browning Remembers Elizabeth The year 2012 marks the 200th anniversary of Robert Browning's birth. Well-known San Francisco Shakespearean actor Julian Lopez-Morillas brings Browning to life for his 200th birthday. The poet looks back on his life’s work and the correspondence with Elizabeth Barrett that led to their elopement and life together. The show features dramatic renderings of several classic poems (including My Last Duchess, Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister and Pied Piper of Hamelin), and excerpts from the greatest series of love letters in the English language. “Lopez-Morillas vividly encompasses Browning's character, poetry, spirituality and passions... This is a unique and sophisticated performance not to be missed." Dennis Parks, president of San Francisco Browning Society lopezmorillas.com

Nonnie Griffin (Canada)

Sister Annunciata’ s Secret A nun's vow of chastity is a sacred one and never taken lightly. Sister Annunciata's Secret is based on a true story, which took place in 1937 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Without intending to transgress her vow, Sister Annunciata falls in love with a pupil. Her near self-destruction leads her to a changed life and hard-won redemption.

Nonnie Griffin’s one-woman play is based on truth and offers a rare insight into the workings of the human heart. "Since no one in the Church seems to want to admit what they have done to innocent children," she writes, "this nun, in her agony, found she had to deal with herself and her wrongdoing." "deserves to be a classic… a vivid experience of God’s love reflected through an interpretation of a devastating experience." Father William Swift "the sort of concentrated force that has impressed many of her fans and helped make her new ones… it held the audience from beginning to end." Keith Garebian, Stage and Page "We were surprised at the force of the play and the effect it had on us." May Maskow
