UNITED UNTIED A winning weekend in Zandvoort
Team Member Profile
After a four week break from racing (although we did take part in some test days) we made our way to Zandvoort, Holland for round six of both the British GT Championship and the European Supercar Challenge. The Audi was only 16 points behind the BGT championship leaders and the Geddie’s were only 13 points off the lead of the European Championship heading into the weekend. With lots of points on offer in both championships, Zandvoort was set up to be a thrilling weekend. And thrilling it was. A pole, two fastest laps and two wins later and we are back in the lead of the European championship heading into the last two rounds at Spa and Assen.

Car Gossip The Audi also scored some good points to add to their BGT championship challenge too. Matt got a fastest lap of the race in race one and made his way through the field to finish P7. After setting the pace in race one, we were left with some work to do after a disappointing showing in race 2. We head into the final round of the season with the British championship still well within reach.

BGT Update: Historic Cars Profile
You might have noticed that we didn’t run the McLarens at Zandvoort in the British GT Championship. This was because we decided to focus our efforts on the championship contenders in both the British and the European Championships, the #25 Audi and the #112 McLaren. The #112 McLaren is in with a real chance of winning the European championship where the GT3 regulations are quite different to the BGT ones, giving us much more freedom with the car - the Audi has also been a consistent point scorer throughout the whole British championship too. For the past 3 years we have entered the British GT Championship and have been in contention to win the title every year.
Race Action Race Action Race Ac European Supercar Challenge: Round 6 – Zandvoort United Autosports left Zandvoort as double winners after Glynn Geddie won both Supercar Challenge races at the Dutch track. A successful weekend consisting of a pole position, fastest lap and two race wins saw the team regain their lead in the European championship with the McLaren MP4-12C. After a thrilling start to race one from second on the grid, Glynn passed the leading Ferrari of Jan Versluis into the first corner and held the lead for the rest of the hour-long race, eventually crossing the line with a 31 second advantage over the rest of the field. Glynn started the second race on pole with Versluis next to him on the grid. As the lights went green, Versluis pulled the same move on Glynn into the first corner as the Scot did to him in race one. Falling into second place, Glynn made his move past the Ferrari after a tantalizingly close battle and began to stretch his lead out before coming in to pit. Glynn rejoined in second, behind the Volvo of Henry Zumbrink after a 20 second success penalty was added to the pit time after his win in race one. Glynn managed to pass Zumbrink after he rejoined the track and took the second win of the weekend for a delighted team

tion Race Action Race Action Race A British GT: Round 6 – Zandvoort The United Autosports Audi R8 LMS ultra added crucial points to their championship campaign after seventh and tenth place finishes in the only overseas round on the calendar. They head to Donington for the last round with some work to do after an unrepresentative showing in the second race at Zandvoort. Race one saw Mark Patterson and Matt Bell storm their way through the grid from a P16 qualifying spot to bring the Audi home in P7. Matt also got fastest lap for the team, showing the competitiveness of the car. Race two was a more disappointing event, after a good qualifying from Matt put the car in P7. Matt and Mark could not make their way through the field and dropped back down the standings to P11 at the checkered flag. A post-race penalty for the Fortec Mercedes bumped Matt and Mark up into the final points position.

Dear Flower… If you have any personal or emotional problems you would like Uncle Flower to help with, then please send a private message to him on the team Facebook page. Question: I read in last month’s column about someone wanting to propose to their girlfriend. I have the opposite problem. I want to get rid of my other half. How do you suggest I go about it? Answer: Just tell ’em direct, relationships are like motorsport – there comes a time when you have to move up a class, in time for the new season. Please note: Flower's monthly views on life expressed in this column are not necessarily the views of the company or its staff. United Autosports will not be held responsible for any offence caused.
