Carl Breeze second entry into Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup

Sneak Peek

Dear Flower...

We have confirmed a second entry into the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup with Carl Breeze for this year. Carl is a late entry to the championship in the team’s second Ginetta G55 GT4 and is no stranger to the series having won the Ginetta Supercup in 2012. He is also the most successful Ginetta Supercup driver, with 33 wins under his belt. Carl made the switch to the Ginetta series in 2009 after competing in the British Touring Car Championship and has finished in the top three of the championship for the past five years. He joins team-mate Luke Davenport who will be taking part in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup for the first time. The added experience Carl will bring to the team marks us out as serious championship contenders in 2014.

Race Action Race Action Race Action Race Ginetta Media Day On the 11th March, we went to Silverstone for the annual Ginetta Media Day with Luke Davenport and his G55. Luke was consistently quick round the National Circuit, which was a great chance for him to get some crucial testing in ahead of the start of the season at the end of the month. We also unveiled our new livery at the famous circuit, one to match our two BTCC Toyotas. Luke has completed a total of eight tests this year before the start of the Supercup Championship at Brands Hatch on 29th/30th March.

What is your age? 33 What is your job? Race Events Manager – I am responsible for planning the team’s logistics and activities for all the United Autosports events. I also manage the hospitality and guests for the team at race events, and run the United Autosports office on a daily basis (with the help of Tracy and Charlotte ;-) How long have you worked at United Autosports? I have worked for Richard since 2006, and worked for United Autosports throughout its existence. What would you be doing if you didn’t work for United Autosports? I would love to work somewhere like the Dogs Trust (I prefer animals to cars) What do you get up to outside work? I try to embrace my inner-geek so I’m a member of a book group and I take Italian conversation classes. Fortunately, these activities tend to happen in a pub or bar as I also enjoy wine… How did you end up working for United Autosports? Very randomly as I had no real knowledge of the industry, but I joined Richard’s previous team (Team LNT) at a time when they were

participating in European Championships so I was employed to speak foreign. Before then, my only experience of Motorsport was working as an Au Pair for ex-F1 Driver Bruno Giacomelli. What is your nickname and why? Quite often get introduced to motor racing people as “Streaky’s Wife”... (I’m married to Craig, No. 1 mechanic on BGT Audi) What has been your funniest racing experience so far? I’m lucky  / unlucky enough to sit opposite Flower in the office, so every day is quite amusing.

Porsche Carrera Cup, British GT (2011 champion), FIA GT3 and European Supercar Challenge (2013 champion) I also took part in the 2013 Spa 24 hours with United. How did you get into racing? I went to Knockhill for track days with my dad and it went from there.

Question: I’m really looking forward to the start of the BTCC season but don’t know which tracks to come and see you at. Which are your favourite UK tracks and why? Answer: My favourite circuit has to be Oulton Park. I competed in my first race there driving a Frog Eye Sprite, can’t quite remember but I think it was gravel back then! I can remember I wasn’t very quick. I am sure tarmac has improved the circuit but the place has been spoiled a bit by putting in the chicanes, before that Knicker Brook (allegedly named after a young couple were surprised by someone blowing tree roots out of the ground, the lady ran off without her knickers) the corner was taken without lifting the throttle, flat out from Esso hairpin, it was a real man’s corner. The rest of the circuit was equally demanding, a proper “misters” track! Richard won the Gold Cup there and still holds the outright lap record. How did that happen? He must be braver than he looks!! Oulton Park is a great track with great views for spectators, great racing, a great place to be. I guess it must have been shipped out to Cheshire from Yorkshire.

1987 Williams FW11B The FW11B was driven by Nigel Mansell when he came second in the 1987 World Drivers’ Championship in a season completely dominated by the Williams team. The title was won by Mansell’s team-mate, Nelson Piquet, who only scored three wins to the Englishman’s six. This chassis won four races-San Marino, Britain, France and Austria and it was at Silverstone where he pulled off one of the greatest passing moves in the history of F1 when he overtook Piquet for the lead. This car also took seven pole positions. This car is now prepared and raced by United Autosports
