Two weeks ago, Vice Chancellors from around the country caused outrage when they suggested that undergraduates should be paying between £4000 and £20,000 a year to study at University. UEA’s Vice Chancellor feels that it’s not appropriate to take a view on the matter before the Government reviews the current system later this year. Potentially, students could be facing more debt than ever before if these new fees are brought in, and we now need every student to get involved and put pressure on local MPs to make sure that student debt doesn’t soar through the roof.

On Monday 23rd March the Change Awards took place at City Hall in Norwich. Over 45 people attended the evening which saw the following awards being received: Award Winner School Rep of the Year Elizabeth Mulligan If you’re keen to get involved, check out www.ueastudent.com/fees. You will play a key role in producing both the copy and design layout for this year’s student’s handbook from the Union of UEA Students. The handbook forms one of the first pieces of communications that students will receive from their union and needs to act as an exciting introduction to student life. To apply please send the following to r.cubitt@uea.ac.uk - A CV and covering letter stating why you would be suitable for the role - An A4 page with a feature that you think would be good for the handbook. This feature should be about an aspect of the Union (representation, campaigns, clubs, and societies, the commercial services..etc) and should be targeted to new UEA students (This page should be presented as if it were part of your completed handbook to give us an example of your skills and ideas. Please credit any pictures used.) - A short paragraph explaining your ideas and why your feature is right for this year’s handbook. Closing date: Friday 10th April Interviews: Friday 1st May
