Inspired, Motivated. The Melbourne University Chapter of 85 Broads was established in 2007 by Simmi Singh, who was so inspired by the energy and enthusiasm at the 85 Broads conference while on exchange in the US that she wanted to replicate it in Melbourne. Over the last few years, we’ve been busy organising speaker events (previous guests include Mary Bluett who is the President of the Australian Education Union, from a and Accenture), social events like Martinis, Manicures and Makeovers, annual workshops with Goldman Sachs and dinners with professional women with the likes of New York investment banker, Rebecca John. We hope to seek out different areas outside the corporate world as well, so there’s something for everyone. The global 85 Broads network itself was started by Janet Hanson, who used to work at the investment bank, Goldman Sachs at 85 Broad St. in New York. We’ve compiled a bunch of documents for you so that you can find out more about the 85 Broads story. Don’t forget to check out the 2007 Wharton article on Janet Hanson as well. Enjoy & get inspired!
