The Spinnaker

The Spinnaker Print is a national award-winning student-run weekly publication. The Spinnaker Print is published every Wednesday during the fall and spring semesters and is published once a month during the summer months. The Spinnaker Print is a small-tabloid style full-color publication, averaging 20 pages an issue. Ads are sold in page sections and vary in price based on size and frequency. Circulation of the Spinnaker is 4,000 every issue and pass-through readership is 12,000. The Spinnaker Print is the recipient of the prestigious 2010 Associated Collegiate Press Newspaper Pacemaker Award. The Spinnaker was also awarded Best of Show, Associated Collegiate Press, 2010; Online Pacemaker Finalist, Associated Collegiate Press, 2009; Best of Show, Associated Collegiate Press, 2008; Best Front Page Design, Florida Collegiate Press Association, 2008; Best General News Writing, Florida Collegiate Press Association, 2008.

Deadlines

Earlier deadlines may apply for special projects, promotions and sections. If an ad proof is requested, the deadline is three business days prior to run date. Ads canceled after the deadline at the request or fault of the advertiser are subject to being charged in full or partial cost of the ad.

Space reservation and ad are required by 4 p.m. the Friday prior to run date. If Spinnaker Print is contracted to design the ad, space reservation is required by 3 p.m. 10 business days prior to run date. In addition, ad copy approval is required by 3 p.m. five business days prior to run date.

Osprey TV

Television

Advertising on Osprey TV allows businesses and organizations to specifically target the residential community at the University of North Florida. Osprey TV airs 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the campus closed-circuit cable system on Channel 80. While this extends to televisions throughout the campus in academic and professional offices, classrooms, and common areas, the largest concentration of Osprey TV’s audience consists of nearly 3,000 students living in on-campus residence halls, approximately 60 percent female and 40 percent male. Their average age is 19 years old. And more than 18,000 students, faculty and staff have the chance to view Osprey TV at any given moment on the campus. Osprey TV is in the process of expanding our viewing area off campus on public- access television. Osprey TV broadcasts everything from the latest Hollywood films to UNF athletics and unique programming designed to cater to the needs of the university. Osprey TV also has a variety of original programming. OTV News is the university’s most essential source for news and entertainment on the campus.

Still Slides

Osprey TV will accept still graphic slides to run in between programming with a music bed (provided by client or by special arrangement with Osprey TV). 30-second spot(s) must still be purchased.

Not everyone has the capability to produce their own ads, and in select cases Osprey TV can assist. This depends on the current workload of the Osprey TV staff and is not always offered. Osprey TV offers full production services, including crew, equipment and post- production, for $30.00 per hour*. *$30.00 per hour rate may not apply in all circumstances.

Pre-produced ads must be received by Osprey TV at least five days prior to the first air date. Client must supply pre-produced, ready-to-air advertisement in one of the following formats VHS, SVHS, DVD, miniDV, .MOV or .AVI. Graphics and pictures must be submitted electronically by email or on a disk in JPEG or TIFF format.

The client may, for any reason, cancel a scheduled advertisement at any time. However, notice of cancellation must be provided to Osprey TV by phone and in writing or email no later than two (2) business days before the ad is first scheduled to run. Once an ad has begun to air, the client is responsible for the cost of the entire run, even if the client cancels the remaining portion of the run.

A discount of 15% off total television media purchase will be applied to multiple semester or yearlong contract radio media purchases. Either a bundle discount rate or “a la carte� discount rates may be applied to final media purchase, but discounts may not be combined or stacked. Maximum contract or special promotion discounts in television or any other medium cannot exceed 35% off total media purchase in any case.

Osprey Radio

Radio

Osprey Radio is a not-for-profit college radio station that plays a wide variety of indie rock music specifically geared toward the university audience. Osprey Radio also features dynamic hosts and giveaways on air. Osprey Radio is active in the UNF student life environment and generates a lively atmosphere at many events on the UNF campus by providing on-location DJ services and free merchandise to students. Osprey Radio runs show sponsorships on the air. On air spots may include up to 20 words after the name of your business and can be no longer than 30 seconds.

Spinnaker Digital is a cutting edge website that focuses on news and information relevant to student life on and off the UNF campus through collaboration with Spinnaker Print, Osprey TV and Osprey Radio. Spinnaker Digital is the interactive online hub for student-produced content including original web shows, message boards, Osprey Deals, online community classifieds, events, entertainment, and the most up-to-date campus and community news.

Credit Policies

The Center for Student Media offers net 30-day payment terms, billed monthly to clients with established payment records. Invoices must be paid in the 30-day payment period. The Center for Student Media reserves the right to revoke the advertiser’s credit status if payment is overdue or incorrect. Advertising will not be accepted from the advertiser if there is an unpaid balance more than 60 days past the invoice date. The Center for Student Media reserves the right to request prepayment from an advertiser when it is deemed the advertiser cannot be extended credit. All classified advertising must be prepaid.

General Policies

The Center for Student Media reserves the right to reject at any time any advertisement, copy or imagery that it deems unsuitable. The Center for Student Media will make the final determination regarding any advertisement’s suitability for publication. Advertising may be rejected that is potentially libelous; violates any federal, state or local laws; or encourages discrimination against any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, age, color, creed, religion, national origin or disability. All ads having the appearance of news must have the word “advertisement” printed prominently above the ad or stated in the ad. The Center for Student Media is not responsible for any errors in ads submitted by the advertiser or ads that have been created by the Center for Student Media staff after the advertiser has given approval of ad proof.
