UND As you weigh choosing among the more than 200 law schools across the country, you no doubt are considering the tangibles and intangibles that distinguish one law school from another. If you are looking for a law school that offers a highquality legal education at an affordable price, in an intimate environment that values students as people, and with faculty and staff invested in the professional and personal growth of each student, then UND School of Law may be the right law school for you. We offer a solid core curriculum designed to develop and refine our students’ skills in critical analysis and effective communication, instilling in them an appreciation of the values and responsibilities that accompany the profession of law. Our curricular mission is to produce well-rounded legal professionals with the necessary practice-ready skill set to serve as effective, innovative, and ethical leaders.
Our small size fosters a personalized learning environment with a cooperative and collegial character among our 250 students. The faculty and staff get to know our students as individuals and care about their academic and personal success.
Involved Student Organizations Our students participate in a variety of activities and organizations that build their leadership and professional skills while serving our community. They also enjoy outside social activities that build camaraderie and lifelong friendships, such as the annual Malpractice Bowl flag-football game against the UND Medical School. UND Law students are recognized each year as leaders on the UND campus for their service to the university, state, and profession.
Legislative Intern Program Students gain valuable experience in this placement by spending the spring semester of each biennial legislative session in Bismarck, N.D., working as interns with the Legislative Council. Students are assigned to work with various legislative committees on legislative issues, drafting legislation, and statutory interpretation.
Students gain real-life lawyering experience while earning academic credit in our Externship Program. The program promotes learning through active participation in the student’s field placement. Students in the Externship Program receive intensive supervision from the on-site supervisor as well as direction from a faculty supervisor.
