SCHOOL OF BUSINESS The School of Business strives to provide each student an outstanding business education and prepare students for successful business careers. ESTHER G. MAYNOR HONORS COLLEGE

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s Esther G. Maynor Honors College is designed to attract top student scholars by providing an atmosphere that is both academically and personally stimulating. The Honors College offers interdisciplinary seminars and discipline-specific honors courses taught by distinguished faculty members; these courses enhance the general education curriculum, facilitate academic and personal growth, and encourage the interdisciplinary exploration of ideas. Honors students also gain a sense of community through shared residential facilities as well as cultural and service-learning programs. The MHC helps students become independent, successful thinkers, researchers, and communicators while simultaneously preparing them to be responsible members of a global society.

ATHLETICS @ UNCP UNC Pembroke student-athletes enjoy a rare opportunity to be mentored and guided by the best coaches and teachers in the NCAA. Many reasons for UNCP’s overall athletic success are its head coaches and their staffs. Proven winners across the board help the Braves put their best foot forward on the fields and courts, as well as in the classroom. UNCP student-athletes daily cross paths and work side-by-side with national champions, conference players of the year, future professional athletes, and academic award winners. UNCP is a member of the NCAA Division II, Peach Belt Conference and Eastern College Athletic Conference. UNCP fields men’s teams for Basketball, Baseball, Cross Country, Football, Soccer, Track and Field, and Wrestling. Women’s athletics competes in Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming and Diving, Track and Field, and Volleyball.

LANIER

H I S T O R Y, 1 9 7 4 G R A D U A T E

A Chadbourn native, Lanier is a career diplomat with the U.S. Department of State. He joined the State Department in 1983. He is the former U.S. Ambassador to Sudan and former U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Uganda. He was appointed to those positions by President Obama. Lanier served as head of Counterterrorism in the Bureau of Counterterrorism at the State Department from December 2012 to February 2014.

Pardon Ndhlovu competed in the men’s marathon at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil. Ndhlovu finished 41st with a time of 2:17:48. He was one of three Olympians representing his native country of Zimbabwe. He was a standout member of the Track and Field and Cross Country team at UNC Pembroke from 2009-2013. A four-time All-American, Ndhlovu is one of the most decorated student-athletes in UNCP history. Ndhlovu earned his degree in 2013 in International Business and a minor in Athletic Coaching.

Victoria Huggins is a producer and reporter with WECT/WSFX in Wilmington, NC. She is also an accomplished vocalist, motivational speaker and reigning 2016 Miss Wilmington. Huggins graduated with Cum Laude honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication and a double minor in Musical Theatre and Religion.


ETHAN SANFORD RESEARCH, BIOLOGY 2016

Ethan Sanford was 14 when he enrolled at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He maintained a near perfect 4.0 G.P.A. and graduated in May 2016. At 19 – the age of a large majority of college freshmen – Ethan is on a path to reach new heights in the field of research and biomolecular science. He is currently in his first year of a Ph.D. program in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology at Cornell University, which ranks among the top research universities in the nation. “UNCP has prepared me to take the next step in my career. I couldn’t have asked for a better undergraduate experience,” Ethan recalls. “I loved the learning environment, the personal attention from faculty and the abundance of seminar-style classes that allowed me to enhance my learning experience.”

You must also take the SAT or ACT. At UNCP, we evaluate every application individually to determine your readiness for academic success.
