UMWEagleWorks Client Launches First Book Fredericksburg, VA: Barbara Valentine Gustavson releases her book, Permission to be Bold, to the public with a book launch celebration at the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce. Barbara wrote her Book, Permission to be Bold, as a guide to live life fully without safety nets. She shares stories while making a point that change does not have to be a huge leap, but several steps and continuation of self-discovery. “It meant me having to be transparent about how I had allowed fear and challenges to stop me from doing the things I love”, writes Barbara. “When I started taking my own bold steps it was life-changing and I was able to expand my business. I decided to encourage others by passing on key areas that helped me. This book is for someone who wants their own bold ideas out there, and how to navigate the challenges that come with growth and change.” Barbara has been an UMWEagleworks client since June 2018 and has several accomplishments to show for her growing business, Discover Next Step. These accomplishments range from connecting co-workers during building exercises in the community to facilitating a retreat in Canada for women business owners. Retreats are one of her specialties for businesses. Her other specialties are; masterminding, peer brainstorming, education, accountability and support in a group setting for businesses and leadership skills. “Barbara is an excellent UMWEagleWorks member who enriches our community”, says Kelsey Whitman, the UMWEagleWorks Manager at the Center for Economic Development. “She is an active member of the team who gives back by supporting aspiring entrepreneur UMW students. Her leadership qualities and teaching methodologies are remarkable and I cannot wait to read her book!” UMWEagleworks Business Incubation Center is a business growth immersion program that helps improve early stage start-up productivity in a full service professional office ecosystem.
