Welcome to the First Annual Athletics Gala! The University of Mary Washington’s Department of Athletics has compiled countless firsts this year. The first official booster club was launched. Senior field hockey player Caitlin Baker was voted first team All-American. The men’s basketball program advanced into the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the first time. Swimmer Alex Anderson became the first multiple National Champion individual in any sport. Our women’s tennis duo, Lindsay Raulston and Shelby Harris, entered the NCAA Tournament ranked first in the region. Earlier this month, the men’s lacrosse program made their first ever NCAA Tournament. Just a few weeks ago the University publicly launched the five-year Mary Washington First Campaign. UMW Athletics, a Campaign program initiative, will only continue to thrive on the national stage and provide meaningful experiences for our studentathletes with the generous support of you – our alumni, parents, fans, and community. Thank you for making our First Annual Gala a reality. I hope you have a wonderful evening and will consider bidding lavishly knowing UMW Athletics values the student-athlete first. Happy Bidding, Philip Pierce Director of Athletic Development and Promotions

Silent Auction Rules 1. Have fun! But always play to win! 2. Your charitable deduction for the purchase of each item is limited to the amount, if any, by which your payment exceeds the value, determined by the donor and stated in the item description. 3. Please observe that the minimum raise amount is in $10 increments. 4. Payment in full the evening of the auction is mandatory. One may pay with cash, Discover, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or check (made payable to UMW Athletics). 5. All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds on auction items are permitted. Everything is sold “as is”. Please read carefully for any specifications or restrictions. 6. All silent auction items are numbered. 7. Each guest is assigned a number for the evening – located on the back of your program. Use this number when indicating a bid on the silent auction sheet, along with the amount of your bid. 8. Many items are not on display. You will receive a certificate for the gift or service upon check-out. Please do not lose any gift certificates as UMW Athletics cannot create a new one for you. 9. Buyers must contact donors to arrange services and are responsible for discerning and understanding the terms of the sale. UMW Athletics, the Gala and Silent Auction Committees are not responsible for inaccurate descriptions or for any defects in merchandise or services. Neither UMW Athletics, the committees, or donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damages to property that may result from the utilization of property or services sold. 10. Please patronize these establishments and mention to them that you saw their donated item(s) at the UMW Athletics Gala.

Live Auction Rules 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

All is fair in love, war, and auction bidding. If you love Athletics, you must love competition. Live auction items will be auctioned in the order listed. Bidding is accomplished by raising your program showing your assigned bid number. Please keep your program raised until noted by the auctioneer or one of the spotters. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer will be considered the winner. In the event of a dispute, the auctioneer will have sole and final authority to determine the winner. The auctioneer also reserves the right to withdraw an item from sale if he determines the opening bid does not commensurate with the value of the item offered.
