—  Ambijentalna kiparska instalacija akademskog kipara Stipana Kujundžića pod nazivom PRESLOJAVANJE II - OTVARANJE (srebrne forme) zapravo je drugi dio trodijelnog projekta PRESLOJAVANJE koji je postavljen prema koncepciji prof. Maria Beusana. Drugi dio projekta upravo sada promoviramo u Galeriji ULUPUH pod pokroviteljstvom ULUPUH-a, dok će se treći dio pod nazivom PRESLOJAVANJE III - POVRATAK (bijele forme) realizirati u srpnju 2015. godine u formi performansa u Plavom jezeru pored Imotskog. Predviđeno je izranjanje formacije bijelih kapsula i stvaranje kiparskog ambijenta na površini jezera uz režirane podvodne svjetlosne efekte te vanjski svjetlosni i zvukovno-glazbeni prilog kao dio oblikovanja kiparske ambijentalizacije.

2/3

—  The ambient sculpture installation by academic sculptor Stipan Kujundžić entitled LAYERING II - OPENING (silver forms) is in fact the second part of the three-piece project LAYERING laid out according to a concept by Prof Mario Beusan. The first part of the project, LAYERING I - SUCTION AND DEPARTURE (blue forms) was realised in 2010 at the Matica Hrvatska Gallery in Zagreb. This exhibition was adapted in 2011 for the Castle Oršić Gallery in Gornja Stubica, the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje, as well as for the Holy Trinity Gallery in Kastav and finally for the Gallery of the State Archives in Zadar. The second part of the project is now being promoted at the ULUPUH Gallery and is also sponsored by ULUPUH, while the third part entitled LAYERING III - RETURN (white forms) will be realised in July 2015 in the form of a performance at the Blue Lake near Imotski. It foresees the surfacing of formations of white capsules and the creation of a sculptural ambient on the surface of the lake alongside staged underwater light effects and light and sound effects and a musical backdrop as part of the fashioning of the sculptural ambient atmosphere.

Galerija ULUPUH / The ULUPUH Gallery

The LAYERING Project is based on a research of biographical elements conducted by this young sculptor, a member of Generation Y, in the aim of reviewing the complex process of the formation of his creative energy, starting with the earliest incentives followed by the period of his education, extending to the exploration of his own artistic insights in relation to the timeless (traditional and classical) and modern, and then through an IT and contemporary experience. And so a threepiece content basis for the articulation of ambient sculptural installations has been established within this existing framework. They belong to the artistic interpretation of the results of research conducted by the sculptor Stipan Kujundjić. One of the goals of the project is to connect sculpting and music, that is, it aspires to conjoin physical sculptural ideas with a sonic and musical dimension equally modern in sensibility, which is a summation of the aesthetic position of younger generations. In the first part of his project there was a very successful interaction between the sculptor and the composer. This resulted in a composition by the young composer Tibor Szirovicz entitled CONSUCTIO (suction) written for the blue balloon-like forms with tentacles. It was an integral part of the exhibition programme.

Njegova umjetnička stremljenja određuje posve jasna vizualna logika i svjesna likovna reduciranost uz naglašavanje meditativnih ugođaja. Njegova dramatična i strastvena kreativna snaga kroz umjetnost ga oslobađa vlastitih fobija i ranjivosti, upravo je stoga neraskidivo vezan uz umjetnost.

ENG

The ambient sculptural installation LAYERING II - OPENING is conceived as a formation of seven levitating, rounded, irregularly spherical closed forms arranged in three related exhibition rooms. The designed ambient with levitating capsules of unknown content is shaped through their spatial positioning. Inherent to it all is the possibility of an unpredictable aesthetic experience, based on an experience of the invisible. The opening of the capsules' content, that is, the anticipation of the event belongs to the sphere of associations provoked by the sonic and musical content of the exhibition. The three exhibition rooms in which the sculptor's ambientation is visualised are rigged with specially created sonic and musical exhibition contributions. These include the electronic arrangement of a selected soundscape consisting of a natural, animal and human horizon.

This tonal blending that shifts between nature and spirituality, functioning as a means of animating the sculptures, generates another experiential level to the sculptural environment presented. Kujundžić’s sculptures which are simple and minimalist in form clearly draw upon the modernist sculptural tradition. His artistic aspirations are determined by a completely clear visual logic and conscious visual reduction in which emphasis is placed on meditative atmosphere. The artist sculpts his own thoughts, his ideas, his truths, in an attempt to realise true freedom and human dignity. In traversing from wakefulness into dream states, from consciousness to super-consciousness, from finality to infinity, he questions the course of his thoughts on life, on his image of the world, as well as on everything that disturbs the natural flow of things. His dramatic and passionate creative force expressed through art frees him of his own phobias and vulnerability, which is why there is such an inextricable bond with art. Stipan Kujundzić is especially intent on thoroughly researching the benefits of synthetic multilayered building material. In this project this is an ideal choice, as it is focused on the sculpting of a membrane/shell in which the content is packed/ concealed. His topic is capsules that keep the content hidden. The artist explores ambient sculptural dimensions with equal fervour. He places his sculptures in carefully thought out spatial correlations, so that they simultaneously communicate with each other and with visitors in a specific way, as what is expected is the activation of thought and spirit. His pieces of sculptural ambient encourage encroachment upon the visitors' consciousness and sub-consciousness; they draw them in and guide them to a gradual disclosure of the embedded story. This story is a compaction of the artist's personality and all the contradictions of the course of civilization as well as the all-encompassing diversities of the living world. —  Mario Beusan, exhibition curator
