2006 ULM Game-by-Game Summaries Game #11 ••• ULM 23, North Texas 3

Nov. 25, 2006 ••• Malone Stadium ••• Monroe, La. MONROE, La. --- The ULM Warhawks won their final home game of the 2006 campaign on Saturday night over the North Texas Mean Green. In their final game at Malone Stadium, 12 seniors came away with a Sun Belt conference victory, 23-3. Calvin Dawson rushed for 117 yards on 23 carries and one score to lead a ULM (3-8, 2-4 Sun Belt) rushing attack with 216 yards on the ground against NT (3-9, 2-5 Sun Belt). On the season, Dawson now has 1,081 yards and is the first 1,000-yard back at ULM since Bryant Jacobs (1,043 yards) in the 2002 season. The game also marked Dawsonʼs sixth 100-yard performance of the season. “We talked about trying to get the ball to Calvin [Dawson] 20 to 25 times a game,” said ULM football head coach Charlie Weatherbie. “He is an excellent back who does a great job of carrying the football. I thought our offensive line did a superb job tonight.” Dawson opened the scoring in the first quarter when he scampered in from a yard out to end a five-play, 60-yard drive on ULMʼs second possession of the game. The teams traded field goals and ULM went to the locker room leading 10-3. “It is an accomplishment,” said Calvin Dawson. “It shows we have been working hard as an offense.” Erroll Hogan, playing in his final game in Monroe, La. as a Warhawk, finished with 86 yards on 16 attempts and a score. Hogan, who also caught two balls for 14 yards, capped off a 13-play, 80-yard drive with a career-long 24yard run to give ULM a 23-3 lead in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. ULM quarterback Kinsmon Lancaster turned in another solid performance against NT. Lancaster completed 12-of-19 attempts for 193 yards with no interceptions. Lancaster connected with five different ULM receivers, including LaGregory Sapp who finished with three catches for 78 yards. Warhawk kicker Cole Wilson connected on a career-high three field goal attempts. Wilson was good on kicks from 21, 33, and a career-long 49 yards on the night. Wilson also had six kickoffs and three touchbacks. The ULM offense totaled 409 yards and the Warhawk defense held North Texas to just 137 yards. Josh Thompson and Greg James each picked off a Mean Green pass attempt while holding NT to 63 yards through the air. ULM finishes up the 2006 season with a trip to Louisiana-Lafayette next Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Cajun Field in Lafayette, La.
