DIVISION OF STUDENT SUCCESS OFFICES AND PROGRAMS

The Division of Student Success (DSS) includes the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Success (OVPSS) and three subdivisions: Student Co-Curricular Success (SCS), Student Diversity & Inclusion (SDI), and Student Academic Success (SAS).

The Division of Student Success cultivates belonging, well-being, engagement, and learning. We partner with students to build an inclusive, community-connected campus to help them lead meaningful lives and fulfill our responsibility to the communities we serve within Hawaiʻi nei and beyond.

STUDENT CO-CURRICULAR SUCCESS (SCS)

Student Co-Curricular Success (SCS) supports students' co-curricular growth and development while fostering a sense of belonging. The subdivision ensures students have access to career guidance, health and wellness resources, and ways to get involved on campus, as well as provides mental health services, education on being responsible community members, and early childhood programs for parenting students, faculty, and staff.

STUDENT

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION (SDI)

Student Diversity & Inclusion (SDI)/Office of Student Equity, Excellence and Diversity (SEED) provides educational opportunities and support services for a diverse undergraduate and graduate student population. SDI/SEED strives for equity, access, and inclusion through research and practice grounded in social justice, and informed by connections to place, community, culture, and society. Programs and services are provided for postsecondary access and academic success for students from historically excluded and marginalized groups in higher education. SDI/SEED offers administrative support to UH Mānoa and systemwide committees addressing diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

International Student Services (ISS) helps our international students with visa information, campus employment, and scholarships. They also have a mentoring program and a school club called the International Students Association where you can connect with other international students. hawaii.edu/issmanoa

Native Hawaiian Student Services (NHSS) is part of UH Mānoa’s Hawaiʻinuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge. The mission of NHSS is to primarily serve Native Hawaiian students at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa through a comprehensive, culturally respectful and academically competent program of student support and advising services. NHSS provides academic counseling, tutoring, and assistance in finding scholarships. manoa.hawaii.edu/nhss

Children’s Center (UHMCC) is the special place where children play, families gather, and passions are discovered by providing a high-quality early childhood care and learning program serving as an exemplary model for the support of the university, its students, and the early childhood education field.

Counseling and Student Development Center (CSDC) offers a variety of confidential mental health services to students including personal, couples, group counseling, psychiatric consultation, and emergency/crisis services to support their academic, career and personal goals. We also provide career counseling, peer mentor services, training and campus outreach.

Office of the Dean of Students is dedicated to enhancing the overall student experience by providing comprehensive support and advocacy. Warrior Recreation Center (WRC) is located in the Campus Center Complex and provides 56,000 square feet of exercise, restroom, and locker room spaces. WRC is home to approximately 100 pieces of the latest fitness equipment ranging from strength training, cardio and wellness and includes an indoor walking track. It is a multilevel gym and serves as a place to promote and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle.

Senior Citizen Visitor Program (SCVP)/Nā Kūpuna program allows Hawaiʻi residents aged sixty (60) years or older to audit up to two (2) courses that are offered at UH Mānoa and free of charge.

TIDES Program - The AANAPISI program is one of eight federally designated Minority-Serving Institutions (MSI) programs and TIDES was formed from an AANAPISI grant in 2021 and supports Filipina/x/o and Pacific Islander students from Kaimukī, Farrington and Waipahu High School “to and through” UH Mānoa. We offer our services to all students who identify as Filipino and Pacific Islander.

Civic and Community, Office of Engagement (CCE) helps students develop as engaged citizens by providing volunteer opportunities and integrating service learning into courses. Mānoa Advising Center (MAC) assists Exploratory majors in selecting a best-fit major that aligns with the student’s interests, abilities, and goals by offering a cross-campus perspective on all majors and helping students navigate major selection and engage in campus resources. Mānoa Transfer Coordination Center (MTCC) supports transfer students by collaborating with UH community colleges, coordinating the Kaʻieʻie program, and offering advising throughout the transfer process. Pre-Health / Pre-Law Advising Center (PAC) is a walk-in resource center for students interested in law, medicine, or health sciences. Online Learning Academy (OLA) provides free one-on-one online tutoring for students across the state of Hawaiʻi.
