A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR With the holidays fast approaching, it’s time to reflect on a wonderful year of philanthropy. As the last of the leaves are blown from the trees and the first snowflakes fall, I pause for a moment to reflect with gratitude on what an extraordinary community we have in Kingston. I am so inspired by the generosity of donors just like you who give faithfully to ensure we have the best possible health care right here in Kingston. Throughout the year, I have had the great pleasure of meeting donors who have shared their stories of receiving compassionate, life-saving and innovative care right here in the Kingston hospitals. Martin Bird (p.1) is one of many grateful patients who have come forward to share their care story to help inspire others to give generously. Denise Cumming, UHKF President & CEO
HOSPITAL STAFF GO THE EXTRA MILE FOR CARE It’s not just community donors and grateful patients who are inspiring others this year. Hospital staff members came together to raise more than $37,000 in this year’s We Walk for Comfort and Care event. These funds will be devoted to making sure that patients, clients and residents have access to the care they need regardless of financial constraints.

As part of our holiday tradition, we invite you to share with us what inspires you to give back. If you’ve received a blue ornament recently, I encourage you to fill it out and send it back to us. We’ll hang it on our giving tree to help inspire others! With more than $51-million raised towards our $65-million Extraordinary People, Innovative Health Care campaign (p.3), we are well on our way to reaching the next phase of redevelopment in the Kingston hospitals. I look forward to the New Year with enthusiasm and excitement for the changes on the horizon for health care in Kingston. I am grateful to you for helping to ensure innovative health care is available, close to home. I wish you and yours all the best of the season and many blessings for the New Year.
