Member Spotlight Matt Brooks, junior What made you decide to get involved with AdWerks? I was told by my advisor when I transferred to UF to get more involved. She told me about Ad Society and I went to the first fall meeting. I met Elena at this meeting and I also was told by many members about AdWerks. I went home after the meeting and did my own research and I knew it was right up my alley. I wanted to meet a good group of people that I could build lifelong relationships with and have good mentors as well. I was not too sure what I wanted to apply for at first because I love all aspects of Advertising, but I knew that my work experience complements my skills for Account Executive. I mainly wanted to meet people that have the some aspirations and interests like myself and learn as much as I possibly can about Advertising before graduation. I am so glad I did, I love it! Do you have any kind of life advice or a motto that you live by? I came across this saying a few years ago and it really spoke to me, “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” If you could only work with one brand throughout your career, which would it be and why? My ultimate dream job is to do Advertising/Marketing for the MLB, the corporate office. I have grown up watching sports and was always very active in baseball. I am also a huge Red Sox fan, my whole family is. I would have gone on to play after high school if it were not for a shoulder injury. I feel like growing up playing baseball taught me discipline, responsibility, and respect. I learned a lot on the baseball diamond and I feel like I have gotten to where I am today because of a lot of the things I learned. My biggest goal in life is to help other people and help other people succeed. I would love to work for the MLB and try and be able to part of all the initiatives they do for people. I feel like through MLB and advertising for them, I can help push the brand and all the good they do for this country. Not to mention, I’d have the best work view ever! Here are just a few things they are involved in that I am passionate about: Autism Awareness Drug-free programs Stand up to Cancer Boys and Girls Club Breaking Barriers
Keep up the awesome work, Matt! We love recognizing our outstanding members. If you know someone who deserves a spotlight, email firstname.lastname@example.org.

HO ho holiday campaigns Written by Robert Cazzoli
It’s that time of year again, and the holidays approaching can only mean one thing — Christmas commercials! Brouguht to you by The ICON, these are some of the ads that caught our attention and captured our imagination:
1. Exactly What You Wish For — BBDO for Toys ‘R’ Us BBDO hit us right in the heart with this ad about a child and his father preparing for Christmas, but he only truly experiences the joy of the holiday when his mother in the military arrives home just in time for Christmas 2. Big Pizza Delivery: Holiday Edition — Shareability for Pizza Hut The Los-Angeles based brand agency put smiles on the faces of families ordering pizza with this viral caroling campaign. These families get more than pizza when they open their doors to a fullblown Christmas carol flash mob.
3. The Greatest Gift of All — Feel Joy: Glade Winter Collection Perhaps the most heartfelt ad of the year, Glade’s ad shows the joy of the kindness and love of a neighbor at Christmas time.
