FORTS LANDSCAPE

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION The Forts Landscape entails the restoration of an historic fort during the Revolutionary Era. Runoff and stormwater management into the Meer was of great interest, thus I facilitated the placement of boulders along the shore edge to offset the deposition of sediments.

Topography and Design Strategy

PHILADELPHIA FLOOD MANAGEMENT

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT In Manayunk, Pa, there is little response to the flood zones and patterns. Each intervention is an expression of the human relationship with the flood patterns of the Schuylkill River. Following the topography and the flood zones, this is a proposal for an inhabitable flood park with uses coinciding predictable weather and flood conditions. HeartBeatNY will offer motivation for healthier lifestyles using a nutritious diet and exercise. With local foods available and accessible to needy families, health conditions will aleviate

JOBS UrbAg job training program to prepare workforce for emerging food market

Biofuel Development will occur in viable vacant lots for biofuel cultivation; another urban agriculture job

MyOwn promotes entrepenuership for local producers equipped with ag knowledge

Plants will offer other job opportunities in food processing, curing and packaging

MMHESS: MANUAL OF MUTANT HYBRID ENDANGERED SUPER SPECIES DESIGN DEVELOPMENT In this project, I assisted with research on decorative spatial formations and preservation strategies in various Asian cities. Pending publication with Yehre Suh.

2 1

Buffering: Commerical shopping as an enclosure for sacred sites, like Yuyuan Garden in Shanghai and the Great Mosque of Xi’an.

20

Mimicry: Reinterpretations with new practices framed as traditional, like the zen gardens of Ryoanji and Tofukuji in Kyoto.

Plug-In: Gentrification changes the spatial fabric and economic structure but maintains city’s ancient street life in Beijing.

Misuse: The royal burial mounds are used as musuem spaces instead of as masoleums in Gyeongju.

BEEBE LAKE WETLAND MANIFESTATION

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT In being asked to redevelop Beebe Lake, I investigated the lake’s potential as a wetland. With constant deposition of sediments and major time lapses between dredging, Beebe Lake is a viable option for supporting wetland ecologies in Ithaca NY.

FELLOWSHIP SUBMISSION To respond to the Architectural League’s Architecture Folly prompt, I submitted a proposal for an outdoor gathering space that connected to the survivors of Hurricane Sandy. The goal was to mimic the ruins of the catastrophe, beautifed with flowers to emulate hope after despair. The inspiration came from poetry by Hip Hop artist Tupac Shakur, and I continued to use the subculture of Hip Hop as a guide to illustrate an intangible form of strength.
