2nd year from Palmdale, California General Biology major

I am going to be studying abroad in Rome this summer. I was convinced to travel after speaking with the study abroad representative at the Black Resource Center. She gave me all the information I needed about the program, including scholarship opportunities, and provided answers to all my questions.

I like to use as many campus resources as I can, like the Raza Resource Centro, OASIS Tutoring, Peer Advising and different clubs and organizations. These have helped me become more involved and find more opportunities that are available to me at UC San Diego.

4th year from Salinas, California Human Development major Ballet Folklorico

One of my favorite organizations is Ballet Folklorico, which is traditional Mexican folk dancing here on campus. I had never done Ballet Folklorico before, but I instantly fell in love with it. It was a great community and it made me feel at home. I love that our group is able to share our culture with the whole campus.

Going to UC San Diego has given me a foot in the door to many great opportunities, like my internship at Pharmatek, Inc., which is just down the street from campus. I’m excited to gain some valuable research experience.

There are so many ways to get involved on campus. Personally, I love being involved with athletics. I’m a runner on the Track and Field team. I’m also a part of student government and several volunteer orgs. There’s just so many options with more than 600 student orgs to choose from.

Raza Resource Centro

Established through strong advocacy of students, alumni and other supporters, the BRC serves the entire population of UC San Diego while emphasizing the Black experience. We promote scholarship, foster leadership and cultivate community.

We came out of a history of struggle, and student and community movements that called for resources and support for UC San Diego Chicanxs-Latinxs. We are open to everyone but strive to emphasize and foster access, retention and graduation of Chicanx-Latinx students and create strong connections with our surrounding community.

Cross–Cultural Center Promotes meaningful dialogues and context across all cultures, particularly those of underrepresented or underprivileged backgrounds. We offer student internships and art, social and educational programs and workshops.

Inter–Tribal Resource Center Created by Native students, the Inter-Tribal Resource Center supports the mission of the Native American Student Alliance to create and foster community on campus for Native students and communities. The Center is a meeting, study and hang out space.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center A diverse, open and public space to explore issues relating to sexual and gender identities, practices and politics. We challenge existing definitions of variant genders and sexualities by engaging in community building on and off campus; and sustaining and developing visibility, community and knowledge of diverse queer people.

Student Veterans Resource Center Committed to ensuring that military affiliated students successfully make the transition from the military environment to campus life. The Center provides opportunities for peer-to-peer support, mentoring and social networking; and is the primary campus resource and advocate for military affiliated students.

Women's Center Fosters the educational, professional and personal development of diverse groups of women. We strive to increase awareness of issues affecting women and men while creating a sense of community at UC San Diego.

Undocumented Student Services Offers a range of programs designed to provide caring, holistic and individualized support to students who are undocumented, from mixed immigration status families and their allies. A student can meet privately with the office’s coordinator on anything related to status.

SPACES The work done at SPACES (Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service) is student-initiated, student-run and student-led.
