REQUIREMENTS FOR UC SAN DIEGO Our most competitive applicants present an academic profile much stronger than represented by the minimum UC admission requirements below.

FRESHMEN

TRANSFERS

• In high school or graduated from high school and not enrolled in fall, winter or spring session at college/ university.

• Enrolled in fall, winter or spring session at college/ university after high school.

• Apply as a freshman even if you’ve completed college courses during high school (through summer after graduation).

• Taking a class or two during summer term immediately after high school, does not make you a transfer student.

COURSEWORK C or better in these courses The “A–G” subject requirements represent the 15 minimum academic preparatory courses that freshman applicants must have to meet UC admission requirements. For UC San Diego, we recommend going beyond completing 11 of the 15 “A–G” requirements by the end of the junior year.

EXAMS • You must submit scores from either: ▪ ACT Plus Writing or ▪ SAT Reasoning Test with critical reading, math and writing If you’re currently in 11th or 12th grade, you have the option to submit scores from either the old SAT or new SAT with Essay exam. • Two SAT Subject Tests closely related to your major are recommended for engineering, biological or physical sciences majors. • All tests must be taken by the December test date of your senior year. • Your highest scores from a single sitting will be considered.

PERSONAL INSIGHT QUESTIONS The personal insight questions are about getting to know you better — your life experience, interests, ambitions and inspirations. • You must answer 4 out of 8 questions. • Each answer is limited to a maximum of 350 words.
