Introduction Through the observation of artistic and literary medium in Saudi Arabia within the past ten years , artists increasing interest in displaying their work in foreign exhibitions and reluctance for local exhibitions is being noticed , this is due to the lack of a local meetings place for artists and intellectuals , especially of those younger artists who succeeded in imposing their names in the international arena , one of the reasons behind their success was the interest in the mystery of eastern culture . This brought the idea of creating artisticcultural-literary center to gather youth artists with the giants in art and intellectual, and giving them the opportunity to meet up and exchange experiences, and for it to be a platform for all of those who are interested in arts and eastern culture

The value of Art & Culture When we talk about the value of arts and culture, we should always start with the intrinsic – how arts and culture illuminate our inner lives and enrich our emotional world. This is what we cherish. But while we do not cherish arts and culture because of the impact on our social well-being and cohesion, our physical and mental health, our education system, our national status and our economy, they do confer these beneďŹ ts and we need to show how important this is.

What is an Art & Culture Center ? A cultural center or cultural center is an organization, building or complex that promotes culture & arts. Cultural centers can be neighborhood community arts organizations, private facilities, government-sponsored, or activist-run. An art center or arts center is distinct from an art gallery or art museum. An arts center is a functional community center with a specific remit to encourage arts practice and to provide facilities such as theater space, gallery space, venues for musical performance, workshop areas, educational facilities, technical equipment, etc.

“We won’t solve this problem overnight;such studies take time. But if we can work together, we will in time articulate a new language of cultural value that will helpall of us to understand better the essential contribution that the arts make to our lives” Sir Peter Bazalgette Chair, Arts Council England

Motivations -The process of increasing intellectual awareness and the artistic sense requires an artistic incubator. -The literary youth movement in Saudi Arabia makes such a center imperative for the government, and for the decision-makers to adopt this idea and direct it the way that serves the citizen and the nation so they won't turn into extremism of both types, radical or liberal . -Lacking the entertainment centers for youth that offers comedy and theater shows gives this project the importance and the high success chances. -The lack of multi-use rooms that are used for exhibitions and celebrations in a huge city like Jeddah gives the strength and motive to this particular project, Jeddah's art and cultural center .

Problem deďŹ nition -Educating the citizens with the importance of arts and the way it affects all of us, "art is everything that moves us, not necessarily everything we understand" says Ahlam Mustaghanmy, this project is meant for all of those who are art specialists and the public. -Youth are the main building blocks of any society, and the suppression of their energy can lead to dislocation in the community . -The size and social importance of Jeddah is directly proportional to the need of celebration halls and exhibitions

Concept Inspiration for the King Abdullah II House of Culture and Art came from the ancient city of Petra , an oasis and sanctuary of great beauty, providing a perfect analogy for a performing arts center that aspires to be an oasis and sanctuary for contemporary culture. Petra also exemplifies the extraordinary interplay between architecture and nature, in particular, the way that the city's rosecoloured stone walls have been fissured, carved and polished by fluvial erosion and sedimentation over the centuries. Contemporary architecture strives to emulate nature and learn from the intricate complexity and elegance of its forms. So, from Petra, we learned and reapplied the principles of fluid erosion.

Parker Arts & Cultural Events {PACE} Center Information The 4645 Square Meters PACE preforming arts venue is much more than just a state of the art 600-seat theater. The Town of Parker, CO has recently opened the doors of the brand new arts & cultural center to the public, offering the space towards a range of events, from weddings & concerts to ballet & computer technology classes.

Concept The concept of the building's materiality is rooted in the deep history of the site, once occupied by bullwhackers and pioneers, and then eventually home to one of the ďŹ rst inter-state railroad lines in Colorado. The low lying 1story structure, characterized by dark brick masonry, is meant to be a background and rhythm to the long northern facade allowing for the punctuated variety of fenestration and transparency into the building. These intermittent [and sometimes very large] expanses of glass reinforce the human scale and interface to the public. Corten steel, whether in solid staggered panels on the 3-story stage ytower or perforated sheets at the main entry, provide a warm contrast to the cool tones inherent in the expanses of brick and glass.

Roberto Cantoral Cultural Center Broissin Architects Information Project Area : 9,287 sqm Acoustic : Omar Saad, George Augspurger Structural Engineer : Armando Serralde Steel Structure : Nabor Castillo Surface Area: 17,679 sqm

Concept Inspired by the movement of a conductor´s baton, the building design is composed of five concrete roofs moving up and down in harmony to give shape, space and light to the project. Each roof represents a musical staff´s line, always straight, constant and parallel. We wanted to create a project that lives for the trees as the trees live as a part of it. We cannot think about a dark and traditional concert hall when the project site is in a forest area with huge and old trees
