Dress For Success

On November 17, 2016 TRiO hosted “Dress for Success”, a career readiness event that helped scholars learn how to dress and present themselves appropriately when on the hunt for their next career move. Ross, DD’s Discount, Knights Helping Knights Pantry, Goodwill, and A-1 Hair Salon were in attendance and came to show students examples of how to dress to best present yourself. In addition to the good food; DD’s & Ross provided giveaways for all, A-1 Hair Salon gave 20% discount coupons to all and Goodwill gave away two shopping vouchers. Scholars learned differences between “business casual” and “business professional”, work-appropriate hair styles and makeup, clothing options for men and women, and much more! They also explored Knights Helping Knights Pantry (KHKP) new initiative, “Knightro’s Closet”, which offers 30 blazers for students to rent for a period of 5 days. This new initiative is in addition to the array of professional clothing available for students to keep, not rent. To learn more about KHKP, visit their website.

TRiO Talent Show On November 18, 2016 The TRiO Center hosted its first TRiO Talent Show! Scholars and staff from both Project BEST and Prime STEM showcased a variety of talents to their peers for a night of entertainment and enjoyment. Talents ranging from improv, spoken word, karaoke, magic, and more were shown off. The talent show was a great opportunity for scholars to let loose, have fun, and maybe even conquer any stage fright! At TRiO, we don’t judge on who’s the best and who isn’t, we simply want everyone to participate! Certificates of participation were handed out to all of our talented scholars as we thanked them for their courage and entertainment. TRiO hopes to turn this into an annual event with greater amounts of scholar participation!
