NEWSLETTER “Useful to Albanian Women” organized the awareness campaign “Women make History Every Day” in frame of “International Day of Women”, on 8th of March 2013, 08:00 – 16:00 in Tirana, Durres, Elbasan, Puka, Burrel. The annual campaign on International Women’s Day has 10 years that is conceived as a traditional campaign of UAW titled “Women make history every day!” approached in manifesting through awareness massive activities in all cities where UAW operates to sensitize: Citizens, state and public institutions, central and local government, international institutions, civil society organizations, and all communities in Albania
This year, based on traditional mottos “Women make History Every Day!” and “Fest or Manifest?!”, the campaign action plan was focused in developing diverse awareness, sensitizing and social activities in the same time in different cities and places within cities, in order that besides the variety of activities and concentration in time, to aim a
wider geographical coverage and a broader range of target groups, to create a multiplier positive effect of activism, awareness and sensitizing messages to civil
As women are major force of Albanian society, greater efforts should be made and emphasis should be put toward the green light of progress on their status in the Albanian Society. One of tools is the green telephone number offered to denounce every form of violence and discrimination to them.

The strategy of annual campaign has been supported by donors, partners, state and public institutions, local government, civil society organizations and networks, establishing a positive basis of all forces focused in the efficiency of the campaign.
The activities have been diverse and multiplied in years, establishing a consolidated approach of institutionalization. As consequence, partners, associates, citizens are increased in number, embracing this right and important cause for all of us.

follow: Civil Society Awareness with massive mobile activities through public transport bus lines in Tirana and Durres covering wider areas and contacting greater number of citizens; Sensitizing social cultural activities to promote women’s rights, culture, love and respect toward them through peaceful manifestation accompanied with music band, with civil society organizations of Tirana Civil Society Awareness through massive sensitizing, informative and educative activities in main squares and places of Tirana, Durres, Elbasan, Puka, Burrel; Sensitizing and alerting the public health institutions of Tirana, Durres and Puka, on phenomenon of domestic violence, efforts and reactions of health institutions against it; Sensitizing and alerting the Local Government Units of Tirana, Durres and Elbasan, on efforts toward women’s rights; Sensitizing, informing and awareness of youth of middle schools of Tirana, Durres and Burrel, as the future of the country, on women status in the Albanian Society and its importance.
ACTIVITIES Tirana Peaceful manifestation “Fest or Protest”
Folk Bank Music performed Albanian folk music and songs dedicated to women. In a peaceful manifestation, behind them women and activists, representatives of CSOs were in line with billboards, slogans, mimosas, leaflets, ribbons, etc. Activism and sensitizing messages were spread by different gender activists. A green line to report domestic violence cases is now available to Tirana and Durres citizens. On International Women’s Day many urban bus lines in Tirana and Durres carry the slogan “Tirana against violence against women” which provides information on free telephone lines where they can report domestic violence and seek help. The Community Centres Network (Useful to Albanian Women Association), Tirana and Durres Municipalities are providing specialized psychologists and social workers to answer the calls and refer domestic violence cases to appropriate services.
Civil Society Organizations as partners of UAW in the organization of massive peaceful manifestation in Tirana accompanied by music band:
In Tirana, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Ms. Zineb Touimi-Benjelloun, French Ambassador Ms. Christine Moro, German Ambassador Ms. Carola Müller –Holtkemper together with many women diplomats, joined Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Ms. Jorida Tabaku in one of the buses and showed their solidarity and support to public response against gender-based and domestic violence.
Local Government units - sensitizing, awareness and alerting on domestic violence and women’s rights
