Subject:

Homecoming 2010

When: October 10, 2010 - October 16, 2010 Theme: "Share the Pride, Celebrate the Tide" The 2010 SGA Homecoming Committee has been working to provide students, alumni, and fans with a week’s worth of fun and exciting events. The week will begin with the 22nd Annual Roll Tide Run and conclude with the crowning of the 2010 Homecoming Queen during halftime of the Alabama-Ole Miss football game. The Committee hopes that this year will be one of excitement, spirit, and student participation from the entire campus. This Homecoming booklet contains the necessary information regarding each event being held during the 2010 festivities. Included are general information, schedules, applications, and rules. Student involvement is crucial to each Homecoming event. Please encourage other students and student organizations to participate in as many events as possible. During halftime of the Homecoming game, the SGA Homecoming Committee will award the traditional Spirit Cup to the student group that receives the most spirit points during Homecoming week. The Committee will also honor a student group with fewer than 100 members that exemplify the spirit of Homecoming throughout the week. This year we are also offering online registration for events. Organizations are invited and urged to register for events at http://homecoming .ua.edu. Event payments will still be made via check to UA SGA Homecoming, and all event payments should be combined into one check. Queen applications and Powder Puff Sponsorships are excluded and should be paid separately. Spirit Points are awarded for each of the following events: Registering online at homecoming.ua.edu, Roll Tide Run, Service Project, Paint the Town Red, Banner Competition, Urban Comedy Show, Bowling Tournament, Basketball Tournament, Dodgeball Tournament, Choreography Competition, Lawn Decorations, and the Homecoming Parade. Not only will groups that place in competitions receive points, but also every organization that participates in each event earns points towards the Spirit Cup competition. If you have any questions about information contained in this booklet, Homecoming events, how to get involved, or any other Homecoming concern, please contact the Homecoming Executive Director by e-mail at ekfloyd@crimson.ua.edu or by phone at 256-441-6654. Please be aware of the requirements, mandatory meetings, and deadlines for each event. The 2010 Homecoming Committee looks forward to working with students and student organizations to make Homecoming 2010 one of the Capstone’s finest campus events.
