ten things i know to be true 1. first impressions are important, but it’s important to take them with a grain of salt. give people time to decide to show you who they actually are. 2. everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, but that doesn’t mean you’re entitled to bash people for their opinions and beliefs. 3. everyone has bad days. be kind in knowing this. 4. the arts - music, literature, visual - can move people in ways they didn’t even know were possible, or in ways they didn’t know they needed. 5. everyone, literally everyone, has their own insecurities, don’t stay so hung up on your own. 6. no one likes to be judged. outside appearances, while often used to be expressive, rarely speak to who someone is on the inside. 7. it’s okay not to be interested in mainstream things. it gives you character. 8. people don’t always mean things the way you hear them. give people the benefit of the doubt, after all you’d expect the same. 9. individuality is awesome. don’t try to cover up what makes you you. 10. a good support system, whether it be family, friends, your pet, can work wonders in keeping you sane and grounded.
