MILNERTON MEETING: RECURRING THEMES DISCUSSED
Councillor sheds light on issues RICHARD ROBERTS @richardjohn_rj
ousing development, illegal dumping and traffic congestion were just some of the issues discussed at a recent community meeting held at the Milnerton Town Hall. The meeting was held on Tuesday 27 February. Fabian Ah-Sing, councillor for ward 55, says a number of recurring themes, including litter and crime, formed part of the evening’s discussion. “The main purpose of the community meeting is for residents to interact with their ward councillor. This is the meeting where people can come to me and tell me what they think needs attention in our ward. Here we can discuss it and try and resolve it,” Ah-Sing told TygerBurger. One of the main issues brought up by residents was the planned development in Burmeister Circle, Milnerton. “The developers applied to build a nine-storey apartment block. They own three portions of land next to each other which is quite large, and all those properties, I am told, will be amalgamated and used to build the block of flats. “There are quite a lot of apartments. I know densification is important, but my worry is how traffic in this area will be affected, especially in the morning,” Ah-Sing says. He says traffic coming in and out of Burmeister Circle, with Otto du Plessis right behind it, worries him most. “I do support densification but it has to be densification that is supportive to the area.” Ah-Sing told the newspaper last week that he still has to study the applicant’s documents for approval. “I will sit with the sub-
council chairperson who will guide me through the whole document and we will take it from there.” Residents, according to him, wanted to know if the development is allowed. “We informed them on Tuesday that the application will go to the municipal planning tribunal, that we will look at the application and that we are still studying the matter. If there is anything out of order, we will oppose, but if all is above board, we will not object.” Ah-Sing also discussed his community clean-up campaign with those in attendance. “We invited all residents to put together a clean-up group who will do community clean-ups. We will assist them with supplying bags. The City of Cape Town will then collect these bags once they are full,” he says. He adds: “Anyone who wants to do it is welcome. Even if we have 100 clean-up groups, I will personally try and be part of every one.” There was also a request for recycling bins for plastic, glass and paper to be made available across the ward. “One resident suggested that we make one available at the Brooklyn Library. I informed them that I know the City is piloting such a project in various wards and I will look into it and hear how it has progressed.” Traffic in Milnerton also came under the spotlight. “The residents referred to issues in Tijgerhof and Sanddrift, as well as in front of Milnerton Primary School specifically. I asked the officials to do an investigation. I also asked them to take corrective measures if they can.” Another community meeting is scheduled to take place later this month.

Taking on a whole new challenge C
haeli Mycroft (23) from the Chaeli Campaign in Plumstead is taking on a new challenge, the “Bet Chaeli Can’t” challenge, to create awareness about the abilities of disabled people, as well as their inclusion within society. The challenge will see her embarking on a gruelling 75km endurance challenge on horseback through Meerendal Wine Estate for five days from Monday 19 March. Funds raised through the #BetChaeliCant challenge will support Chaeli Cottage Preschool, an inclusive school and enrichment centre for disabled and non-disabled children, many from disadvantaged backgrounds. As a recipient of the International Children’s Peace Prize, Mycroft has dedicated her life to pushing boundaries. Born with cerebral palsy and a degenerative neuropathy, she is the first female quadriplegic to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, and the first wheelchair athlete to finish the Comrades Marathon. To understand the magnitude of this horse challenge, one needs to understand Mycroft’s physical impairments. Cerebral palsy (CP) affects movements in different
parts of the body, with varying degrees of severity. It’s caused by damage to the foetal or infant brain before, during or within five years of birth, hampering neurological development. People with CP struggle with motor control, hence they have difficulty with posture, balance and movement. This means that actions like walking, talking and completing everyday tasks independently are often a huge challenge. CP is the Chaeli Mycroft. most common childhood physical impairment and cannot be “cured” but there are treatments to help CP-affected individuals to live a full life. As an internationally acknowledged ability activist, Mycroft is acutely aware how difficult it is for children with disabilities to gain access to the resources required to live a full life – and this is especially challenging for children living with mobility impairments in rural parts of South Africa. The Western Cape is deemed to have better resources in comparison to many other
provinces, but having resources is not enough to secure effective inclusion. Attitude is critical: being ability and solution focused is important, as is realising that inclusion enriches the lives of all concerned. That’s what makes Chaeli Cottage Preschool an important best practice model for inclusive early childhood development. Sarah Manning, physical therapist and professional animal wrangler, says riding a horse is going to push Mycroft to the limits of her endurance. “She is going to need to work tenfold more than your average able-bodied person. Her body has to continuously work against its own muscle tension and against gravity to stay upright. Now add to that a horse – a moving, unpredictable creature – and the difficulty is compounded.” All contributions go towards providing access to education and facilities for disabled children.
Off-duty police officer shoots, kills attacker NTHABISENG MADUMO @msmadumo An off-duty police officer, who was attacked by three men while walking in Goodwood last Wednesday evening (28 February), shot and killed one of the suspects. According to the Goodwood Police Station commander, Colonel Sibusiso Mntambo, the incident happened at around 21:00 in Dingle Road. “One suspect jumped out of a grey Toyota bakkie and stabbed the officer twice in the back. The officer then took his duty pistol and shot the suspect twice.”
Man (25) caught with dagga A 25-year-old suspect appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court after police discovered dagga worth R15 000 in his possession. Milnerton police spokesperson, Captain Nopaya Madyibi, says police attached to the Milnerton Cluster Tracing Team were in pursuit of wanted suspects in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday 27 February in Dunoon’s Site 5 when they saw a man carrying a large white sealed bag.

He says the 20-year-old suspect was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. “The other two suspects, aged 18 and 19, were later arrested when they returned to the scene.” ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, says paramedics were called to the scene at 21:20. Once treated, the man was transported to Tygerberg Hospital for further care, but he later died there. On Monday Captain Waynne Theunis told TygerBurger the police are unable to provide more information at this stage as the matter is being investigated by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).

fforts are underway to identify a man whose body was found floating in the sea near Table View this past weekend. The body was noticed in the seawater at Blouberg Beach, Table View, by a group of kitesurfers and other eyewitnesses on Sunday. Rowan Marais, National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Melkbosstrand coxswain, says the body of the unidentified man, believed to be in his mid-30s, was recovered from the water by kitesurfers and brought ashore where lifeguards belonging to Blouberg Surf Lifesaving initiated CPR. The NSRI says attempts to resuscitate the victim were unsuccessful, however, and that the man was declared dead on the scene. Captain Adriana Chandler, police spokesperson, says an inquest docket has been opened and the police are now trying to trace the deceased’s next of kin. She says police were busy with patrols

Mob justice claims a life in Joe Slovo Park RICHARD ROBERTS @richardjohn_rj Residents of Joe Slovo Park marched to the Milnerton Police Station recently to demand the release of a prisoner believed to have been linked to a mob justice killing. The protest took place on Monday 26 February and news about the incident was shared on the Milnerton Crime Watch Facebook page. The jailed individual, a woman, was arrested on Friday 23 February and charged with murder, the police confirmed on Thursday last week.
Captain Nopaya Madyibi, Milnerton police spokesperson, told TygerBurger that residents of Joe Slovo Park arrived at the police station in protest, demanding the release of a suspect in a murder case. “This office does not have any knowledge as to why the community wanted the suspect released,” Madyibi said. TygerBurger requested more details about the murder itself, and asked whether the suspect was part of a mob justice killing, reported to have taken place days before. Madyibi did not deny or confirm this, except to say that their office can confirm that
four people were identified in a murder case, of whom two have been arrested at this stage. However Mlulami Ngeyi, councillor for ward 4, told the newspaper that he was made aware of a mob justice killing that took place in the Joe Slovo Park area. “Apparently the deceased (person) robbed someone when a woman shouted for help and residents came out and beat him to death. “I assume that they argue that she is innocent until proven otherwise, or they know exactly who did the act,” Ngeyi says.

Notice of ecological burn at racecourse A prescribed ecological burn is being planned for an area of approximately two hectares inside the Milnerton Racecourse, which falls within the Table Bay Nature Reserve, the City of Cape Town says. The burn will take place on a suitable day between 15 March and 20 May 2018 when weather conditions are favourable. In a statement issued this week, the City says the aim of the burn is to promote the regeneration of critically endangered Cape Flats sand fynbos in the area. Fynbos requires a natural fire regime to sustain the rich biological diversity associated with the vegetation type, the City says. Smoke from the burn could temporarily affect residents and businesses in the Royal Ascot, Milnerton and Milnerton Ridge areas. “The date of the burn will depend on suitable weather conditions, and residents in the Royal Ascot Estate will be notified of the date by means of letters dropped in mailboxes and emails from their body corporates.”
Staff from the City’s Environmental Management Department, supported by Fire and Rescue Services, will conduct the burn efficiently and safely. Firebreaks have been maintained and the associated firefighting equipment and fire hydrants have been tested and are in good working condition, says Suzette Little, Mayco member for Area North. “Given the current water crisis, the burn will be conducted without the use of potable water. Only manual fire control methods will be used. Non-potable water (including rainwater) will be held on standby in case of an emergency,” Little says. The City says all wildlife will also be removed from the block prior to the burn. Residents are advised to email any objections or comments to the City’s Air Quality Management Department for the attention of Bronwyn Davidson at Bronwyn.Davidson@capetown.gov.za within seven days. V For more information, contact Table Bay Nature Reserve on 021 444 0315 or via email to Kyran.Wright@capetown.gov.za.

Many hands made light work of making sandwiches, says a spokesperson on behalf of Woodbridge Primary School. Here learners Cassidy Kwalie, Esam Mjiwu and Phindile Mentoor are busy preparing sandwiches for donation to homeless people in Cape Town.
Homeless treated to hot meal by primary M
andela Day came a bit earlier this year for a group of learners who all rolled up their sleeves and did their bit to help their fellow man. The learners from Woodbridge Primary School’s extramural society recently handed out soup and bread to homeless people in Cape Town – something made possible by the Woodie Outreach Team’s appeal to everyone at Woodbridge to donate bread, yummy fillings and wrappings for sandwiches to be handed out to the homeless. The team, made up of a group of hard working schoolgirls, is led by teacher René Bruwer. “The response was so generous, the team was bowled over. The staff room smelled like a bakery, while the tables groaned un-
der the weight of masses of food – enough to make and wrap over 600 sandwiches, and there were unused loaves and ingredients left over. Everything was donated through Ladles of Love,” says Cheryl Swart, school spokesperson. Four girls from the Woodie Outreach Team went with Bruwer to The Haven Night Shelter in Napier Street, Green Point. “There they helped peel vegetables to make soup and later that evening they served the soup, along with the sandwiches the school had made, to the homeless who queued for a good meal. The girls realised how good it is to give and serve, as well as how privileged they really are,” says Swart. V What is your opinion on this article? Let us know at email@example.com.

Beware ... wasps are on the warpath! NIELEN DE KLERK @nielendk Beware the yellow wasps (of doooom!). There has been a dramatic increase in sightings of these wasps over the past year, the City says, with the number of invasions recorded in Durbanville more than double what it was this time last year. In January this year, 316 wasp nests were removed in the Durbanville area compared to 144 nests removed during January 2017. Kanonberg, which has reportedly seen a spike in activity, is recorded as Durbanville by the department that deals with these issues. The wasps are a City-wide problem. “The Environmental Management Department’s team that is concerned with the removal of nests removed 985 European paper wasp nests in various suburbs across the City in January 2018. The team also removed one German wasp nest in Noordhoek in January 2018,” says Brett Herron, Mayco member for transport and urban development. This is peak season for these wasps. According to Herron, the wasps need to be removed as they outcompete indigenous species for resources. “They are also a nuisance and have been reported to sting people and pets, especially when stepped on or when their nests are unknowingly disturbed.” There are two types of invasive paper wasps currently plaguing the City – European paper wasps and German paper wasps.
European paper wasps were first discovered in Kuils River/Brackenfell in 2008. “(They) have since spread across most of Cape Town, and can now be found as far south as Hout Bay,” Herron says. They’re relatively common in the northern suburbs. Their nests, which are papery and honeycomb-like, are always above ground. The less common German wasp is more aggressive. “It has been known to swarm and chase targets,” Herron says. These wasps were discovered in 1975 in Kirstenbosch, the City says on its reporting website. Their nests are usually built underground with a hole for an entrance. Sometimes they do build their nests above ground in a ball-shaped papery nest. “If you spot these wasps do not attempt to control them yourself,” the website warns. “They are capable of stinging right through a normal bee suit and will swarm and attack if the nest is disturbed.” The City has dedicated control teams to remove the nests. The nests are sprayed with insecticide (same used by households) before the nests are bagged and removed. Many have complained about the delay of these teams in coming out to remove nests. Herron says that in these cases, “residents are welcome to contact private companies for assistance as the City’s response time may be longer than usual, given the high volume of reports.” VResidents can report wasp nests on the City’s website at www.edrr.co.za.
Local actress poised to take on the USA A
Milnerton teen is getting ready to jet off to the USA where she will be representing South Africa at an international convention for aspiring actors, singers, dancers and models. Fifteen-year-old Eugenie Bezuidenhout will be representing her country at the upcoming 2018 Applause Rising Talent Showcase (Arts) Convention set to take place in Orlando, Florida in the USA later this year, says her proud mother, Sabina Jakob. The aspiring actress, dancer and gymnast took an interest in acting at a very young age and also received the award for Best Drama Student at the German International School last year, Jakob says. “Coming from a family that is involved in the film industry, it was never difficult for Eugenie to stand in front of a camera. From a young age she started modelling for many international clients. “Eugenie also did ballet for many years and that is where she discovered her love for being on stage,” her mother explains. Eugenie also competes in artistic gymnastics and tumbling. She qualified for the South African junior team in 2017. She represented South Africa at region 5, which took place in Namibia last December, and brought home four medals: a gold, a silver and two bronze medals. “But her real passion lies in acting,” Jakob says. The Grade 10 learner recently auditioned in front of international talent scout and director of arts, Kim Myers, along with international casting director, Elsubie Verlinden, and Rhavynn Drummer, director of the Oprah Winfrey Show where she was selected to represent South Africa in Orlando. “She just completed the first bootcamp where her skills were sharpened in the film
and acting industry and she was taught special skills in acting and personal branding. “With a great understanding now of what the international industry is looking for, Eugenie is ready to make South Africa proud and bring back a great wealth of knowledge as she will be trained by international managers, producers, casting agents and directors. “From this opportunity she believes that many doors will be opened for her to showcase her talent,” says Jakob. The teen dreams of studying at the New York Film Academy. V What is your opinion on this article? Let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The City’s big plans for the sand RICHARD ROBERTS @richardjohn_rj
or some time now, residents of Table View have been complaining about the poor state of the once pristine beachfront near Marine Circle, with complaints being mainly about the roads, sidewalks and cycle lanes that are constantly covered in sand. Recently, however, it was announced that work will start to resolve this issue. On Friday 23 February it was announced on the ward 107 Facebook page that trucks and machinery will be moving sand around the Marine Circle area in the coming weeks, thus clearing the pathways. This announcement was welcomed by many – some describing it as “great” or “awesome” news. It is said that this step is a small start to a very long road of rehabilitating the dune system, and the never-ending problem of sand blowing over onto the walkway and into the road. Nicky Rheeder, councillor for ward 107, told TygerBurger the entire dune system from Dolphin Beach to just before Blouberg needs to be rehabilitated, reshaped and stabilised. She added that there are several challenges though, including funding, as the whole project would cost over R35 million. “We are, however, starting where we can with the areas where the dunes are moving into the road.” Asked why the rehabilitation of dunes is necessary, Rheeder replied: “The dune system is dynamic and due to erosion over the years, the drought and the lack of vegetation to keep the sand at bay, the dune system is moving over to the road. Remember that where KFC is now was once a dune. We need to rehabilitate the dunes in order to keep the sand on the dunes and off the road, parking and grass.”
Plans are being made to remove the sand from walkways, paths, cycle lanes and parking areas of Blouberg Beach, Table View.PHOTO: BENNY-REE BEZUIDENHOUT
The small, short-term project near Marine Circle will begin in the next few weeks, she said. “We are just awaiting the date from the roads department. The long-term (R35 million project) will have to wait until such time that we can find the money, hopefully in the next few years. A project like that would also most likely take two years, give or take, to complete.”
It was announced on social media that the sand from Table View’s beach will be relocated to assist with the completion of the Big Bay dune project. Rheeder told the newspaper that the dunes at Big Bay is being rehabilitated after the storm damage that was caused. “They need a few more truckloads of sand to complete the project and so some of the sand from the section of beach that falls in
ward 107 will be transported there to assist. “I am very excited by what the beachfront will be in years to come. When I became a councillor I said this would remain a priority for me and I have always kept it at the top of my list. We have come very far with the planning and preparation, and most of the preparation work – research and so on – has been done. Now we need to work on the funding to complete it,” Rheeder said.

ore than 20 environmental friends groups from across the Western Cape gathered at Tygerberg Hills Nature Reserve on 17 February. Co-hosted by the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (Wessa) in the Western Cape and Tygerberg Hills Friends Group, an early morning hike led delegates to the top of the Tygerberg Hills where the 18th century cannon was fired. Cormac Cullinan, environmental lawyer from Kenilworth and international defender of the rights of nature movement, was one of the speakers. He said it is imperative for human rights to be in balance with those of earth.
“It’s time for organisations that are committed to protecting the environment and to promote social justice to work together. We need to create a powerful movement capable of driving the transformation of legal, economic and political systems necessary to address key challenges of the 21st century. Small environmental groups are bedrock for this.” Hayley McLennan, founder of Rethink the Bag, spoke about the overuse of plastic. Samantha Bennett of Strat Waste Solutions spoke about how, by modifying behaviour and exploiting technology, we can achieve zero waste. Ashton Mouton, Tygerberg Hills reserve manager, also shed light on his work adjacent to suburbia, where he helps preserve the last conserved area of Swartland Shale Renosterveld.

Nou was ek oortuig van my saak.

GERRIT ERASMUS Welgemoed
City punishing us for doing as told Most of us do everything possible to save water and now we are being punished by the new water and
sewerage rates. How ridiculous to go up more than five times the rate for water and the same goes for sewerage? While it won’t bother the upper-class residents, what about the middle working class, the pensioners and the elderly? We now use exactly a third of what we used to use in our home and yet we now pay more than double what we used to pay for water and sewerage. We get asked to use less water, which we do, and that now results in the City of Cape Town getting less money. They are now punishing us for doing what they instructed us to do by increasing the rates so they can still get the same amount of money out of the people. We all know that certain areas are still getting their water for free, which is really infuriating. It’s heartbreaking to see how unfair things have become. CONCERNED RESIDENT Kraaifontein
Amateur DA has lost the plot When the DA let “Septic” Blatter (former Fifa president) put the wrong stadium in the wrong place, I was unhappy, but I forgave them. When the DA stuffed up the tolling of Chapman’s Peak, I was unhappy, but I forgave them. When the DA spent unnecessary money on a new logo, I was unhappy, but I forgave them. But now with the debacle over water ... the total lack of management and communication, I can no longer forgive. The DA has lost the plot. The DA has lost my support. The DA has lost my vote. We need professionals to run the Western Cape, not amateurs. ROB STAMPE Durbanville
Water metering: glitches or lies? Fred Anthony of Stellenberg complained of a “glitch” in the City’s water metering system (“The City must get their act together”, 28/02). His water consumption for January and February was not metered, but estimated to be far above his normal usage. More people in the northern suburbs have the same complaint. Mr A in a nearby suburb is a frugal and handy man. He filled his pool with rainwater and recycled greywater years before the public outcry about water began. His long-time
monthly consumption of municipal water stays below one kiloliter. Mr B, his neighbour, regularly clocks up more than six kiloliters. Their meters are positioned alongside each other. When the meter reader has read the one, he takes one step to read the other. Mr B’s account for December and January was as usual, but that of Mr A was “estimated” at 13.6 kiloliters. So why estimated? And why at more than 13 times what it should have been? He wrote to the accounts department of the City of Cape Town at the official e-mail address supplied on their website. No response. Six days later he enquired again, and after 15 more days without an answer he sent his inquiry to the office of the mayor. That resulted in a response and the rectification of the problem. Mr A also looked at the Hellopeter website and found that someone else had logged a similar complaint of exaggerated estimates, no response, etc. This person also indicated that other people had the same experience. There was no response from the City to the complaint placed on Hellopeter. Should the suspicions about officials prove to be true, what could be the reason behind it? It would of course have brought in an extra cash flow to balance the City’s books at the end of its financial year. A more serious result would be false statements on water usage. This terrain needs caution. Recently some politician somewhere shouted that the rich whites in the suburbs are stealing water from the poor blacks. Another possibility that should also be considered is that a crisis is being artificially created for politicians to blow up and solve before the election. OLD-TIMER Durbanville

Kusch wil weet hy’t ’n verskil gemaak AVRIL FILLIES
antane Kusch, dr. “As iemand bo sy omstandighede uitstyg, asook my tye met vriende en familie, is alles goed wat my hart verbly. “My motto in die lewe is: “Greatness is not determined on how well you do it. It is about doing what you are suppose to do and not what you want to do. The cause is much bigger than the passion that drives it.”

Mashazi makes Makeba magic JAY-DEE CYSTER @jaydeecyster
ima Mashazi credits her move to Stellenbosch in 2005 as the start of her music career. Mashazi, who portrayed the late Miriam Makeba in Mama Africa, the Musical, which toured both locally and to the United States, will this year once again be paying tribute to Mama Africa, in My Miriam Makeba Story at the Stellenbosch University (SU) Woordfees. Upon making her move to Stellenbosch she enrolled at a music school and in 2007 she started performing with other artists, particularly with a band called Zamar, after which she became a member of the jazz band ESP. My Miriam Makeba Story tells of the experiences and elements of Makeba’s life to which Mashazi was exposed while portraying Makeba in the musical. “While portraying Miriam Makeba in the musical, I was exposed to many elements of her life that I had previously been unaware of and I gained a deeper appreciation for who she was beyond just her music,” she shares. “I heard the stories behind certain songs and I learnt more about what made her so amazing aside from her beautiful voice. I also discovered songs I hadn’t heard before. I feel those songs, the hidden gems, should be heard and those stories must be told,” she says. Mashazi says she chose songs which she strongly associated with Makeba while growing up, as well as the songs she heard for the first time while doing the musical. “I added some of her songs, my own and one or two covers from other artists that hold special significance to me, particularly with regard to our intersecting stories,” she explains.
Sima Mashazi can be seen in My Miriam Makeba Story at the SU Woordfees on Saturday 10 March. Mashazi says what makes My Miriam Makeba Story special is that people will not be coming to see her play the part of Makeba, but will be introduced to her as a singer. “I will be paying tribute to this icon in my personal capacity as an artist whose life has been deeply influenced and touched by her. It will be an intimate evening of sharing music and memories,” she says. “I hope to inspire my audience as I share how this woman, Mama Makeba, has inspired me.” Mashazi can be seen in My Miriam Makeba Story at the Drostdy Theatre in Stellenbosch on Saturday 10 March at 20:30. Tickets are R150 at Computicket. Mashazi can also be seen in another production at the Woordfees called Vlerke vir Almal.

news, now called entertainment. Pieter Dirk-Uys is sorting out 40 years of distress, disguise and disgust – from apartheid to tripartite, from amandla to Nkandla and from Bezuidenhouts, Raubenheimers and Ramaphosas to Alzheimers. Wigs, glasses, wagging fingers, toyi-toyis, red berets, trump cards of madness, icons and aikonas will take centre stage. At a time when a casual greeting or embrace can be seen as racist or as harassment, the advice is simple – “when in doubt, say darling”. If you can’t remember someone’s name, just call them darling. If you get lost along the road to somewhere, simply ask for Darling. He did it, and now Pieter-Dirk Uys lives in Darling. Join him and many other darlings on an exciting walk to the edge of the next cliff. Pieter-Dirk Uys will be performing at Die Boer Theatre Restaurant on Monday 26 March at 20:30. Cape Field Artillery led by Pipe Major Grant Sheffel, as well as local Indie rock band Mobbing Bali, will enthral the audience with their music. Guests will also be treated to a dance performance by the Bergvliet Royal Scottish Country Dance Group while bottles of Monkey Shoulder and Glenmorangie 10-year whisky will be raffled off. And last but certainly not least, hosts Christine and the Kilts will entertain the audience. Koeksusters and Kilts takes place at the Artscape on Tuesday 20 March at 20:00. Ticket prices range from R150 to R500 depending on the size of the donation you wish to give to the group. Bookings can be made at Computicket.

Best Served Chilled!
Volop pret by vanjaar se Vyefees D
Skryf in by entries.onsite-events.co.za.

Kontak Elsa by firstname.lastname@example.org of 021 151 3670 vir meer inligting.

My name is Nombulelo from Tyger Valley my number is 0719 732 622. A while ago I was depressed and stuck not knowing what to do, all the money I made was going through my hands. Money is not my problem any more since mama Barrack blessed me with a lot of money in my account, because I have been robbed many times by fake doctors who demanded money with no help when I first saw the testimony about mama Barrack I never believed until I tried to call her. She explained about her services and how people get rich through shortboys, magic wallet, magic ring, money in the house, money in the account and more. I was interested in getting money in my account since I was far from her. She asked me to provide her with my account and names and R 850. within 20minutes R 450,000 notified in my account. Then I went to the bank even though I was scared but there were no questions. My mother also tried money in the house and she was also shocked to see the bag full of money. Thank you Mama Barrack for saving my life. Call Mama Barrack on 081 075 4971

KILLARNEY POWER SERIES: EXCITING FIGHT FOR THE WIN PREDICTED FOR SATURDAY
Fighting for the flag ADRIAN PHEIFFER
fter several leading competitors were involved in spectacular crashes during the opening Power Series meeting last month, they will all be fighting for the winner’s chequered flag during the second round at Killarney on Saturday. The big Masters V8 events on the day proved to be a really explosive package. Highlighted by a multiple pileup in the first race that eliminated several of the front runners, including reigning champion Fabio Tafani, it was appreciated most by those spectators who like it rough. The fast improving Mark Ridgway managed to stay out of trouble and went on to notch up a first and second place for the day. His performance this weekend is going to be worth watching. The one-make Makita Formula Supercars may be a mite slower but they are every bit as exciting. Their first corner, first lap crash in the second race last month had the crowd on their feet. No bets on this one, but Glen Philips, Andrew Moffitt, Jarryd Evans and Ryan McCarthy are all in with a chance. The Mike’s Place Clubman events in the first round provided an early shock when superstar Danie van Niekerk’s BMW 325 was out-qualified by the Volksies of Shane du Toit and Boland’s Brennon Green. While Van Niekerk eventually finished as the overall victor after the other two both experienced problems, the Beemer driver knows he is going to have to be at his very best if he wants to win again on Saturday. If Francis Carruthers’ revamped 7-litre V8 Chev Aquila is ready, after missing the first round of the Pirelli Sports & GT category, it will be interesting to see how it fares against Marcel Angel’s Ferrari 458 and Craig Jarvis in the latest V10 Dodge Viper. Then there’s the Nissan Juno in the hands of Andre Bezuidenhout, which sent shock waves through the pits when it qualified more than two seconds quicker than Angel’s Ferrari. Although it failed to finish even one race and was not classified, it could be a winner this weekend. way behind class A hotshots like Jurie Swart, provided an excellent display of close racing. With a selection of entries that vary from cars like a powerful rotary-engined Mazda RX7, to a little Austin Healy Sprite, the Shatterfix Fine Car organisers are fortunate to have an Index of Performance formula that enables them to level the playing field. While Jaco Lambert won the most recent round in a VW Fox, Saturday could be different. As this preview goes to print, the entries are still open for the Classic Car and Formula Libre categories. Of course the family angle ensures there is always more than just the racing at a Power Series meeting. There is no charge for admission to the pit enclosure or for grandstand seating, while a free shuttle service is available for those wanting to move around. Sponsored by Wingfield Motors, with media support from Radio KFM, admission is R70 for adults and R20 for scholars under 16. Kids under 12 enter for free.
Show some purple pride Cape Town’s finest are dusting off their running shoes, getting ready to give the City’s residents their annual splash of purple pride on Friday 16 March, with the Hollard Daredevil Run. The 5km run sees men of all ages, races, shapes and sizes take to the streets during peak hour traffic, wearing nothing but purple Speedos and a whole lot of purple pride to raise awareness of male cancers. The theme for this year’s Hollard Daredevil Run is #DaredevilDedication, as Hollard calls on all Daredevils to dedicate their run to someone they know or love who has been affected by cancer. Runners can share their dedications on signboards, or even write them on themselves, seeing as there will be so much skin on show! “I think we can all agree that cancer is a massive ‘ball ache’, and that more needs to be done to raise awareness and encourage more men to get tested before it’s too late,” says Warwick Bloom, group communications manager at Hollard. The fun run will start and finish at the
Greenpoint Salesian Football Club in Stephen Way, Green Point, with the route leading runners and walkers along some of the City’s most picturesque scenes. Historically, the run has taken place on a Friday afternoon, when the Speedo-clad runners are most visible to the public, to attract maximum awareness to this worthy initiative. Proceeds from the run will be donated to the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) and the Prostate Cancer Association of South Africa to help fund cancer awareness programmes and testing across the country. In 2016, funds from the Hollard Daredevil Run were used to introduce the MANVan, a mobile cancer screening station providing free health checks, as well as cancer awareness and support programmes. In that year alone, the MANVan initiative reached and screened an impressive total of 7924 men throughout the country. Men of all ages are invited to participate in the run and can register now at www.daredevilrun.com.
