Seen here are Ackermans managing director Sean Cardinaal, directors Johan van Rooyen, Louise Hamman and Tracey Jager, as well as personal assistant Andrea Timotheus, ending the day on a high note by acting out a live read of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" in the Phillipi East Library. Nomathemba Siyolo from Yabonga acted as a Xhosa interpreter.
All Ackermans departments spent a day with their chosen charity. With a recent visit to Yabonga, a non-governmental organization that aims to create an effective, sustainable model of care for families living with HIV and AIDS, Ackermans directors and personal assistants planted a vegetable garden and painted a support center at the Phumlani Clinic in Lower Crossroads, as well a s a s s i s t i n g Ya b o n g a Community Mothers with their daily activities and interaction with children. The Textiles and Footwear departments also visited BADISAin Kuilsriver. These departments did a soup kitchen for kids, worked on the vegetable gardens for local schools and recycling projects for kids.
