illiam Hantam (Bellville), Jaco Castle (Durbanville) en Luwaaz September (Tygerberg-klub) was die Tygerbergstreek se vernaamste uitblinkers met die aanvang van die jongste reeks tweedaagse krieketwedstryde in die WP se eerste liga. Hantam (109) het gesorg dat Bellville (235/6) stewig in die saal sit teen Pinelands (152/5), terwyl Castle se 101* daartoe gelei het dat Durbanville (183/7) die neus voor het teen Mitchells Plain (164). Wallace Albertyn (3/22) en Mark de Stadler (3/27) was die Durbies se suksesvolste boulers.
Onkeerbaar Luwaaz September (9/34 en 4/12) was in ’n byna onkeerbare bui vir Tygerberg (121) teen Helderberg (120 en 38/7). Brindley Gilbert (29) was al kolwer wat hond haaraf kon maak. Edgemead (172) het met behulp van Mario Stoop (45) goed weggespring teen Strandfon-
tein, maar algaande die houvas verloor met die besoekers op 232/7. Enigiets is ook nog moontlik in die kragmeting tussen Milnerton (125 en 24/1) en Bonteheuwel (131) met die beste bydraes deur Jason Maritz (5/35) en Gareth Swart (34) vir Milnerton. Kuilsrivier (172) het egter die hef in die hand teen Groenpunt (112), danksy veral James Carolus (5/24) en Craig Ephraim (3/22 en 39) se bydraes.
Pa en seun blink uit in judo Righardt (9) en Johann van Rensburg (40) is vanjaar aangewys as Boland se judopres teerders van die jaar in hul onderskeie afde lings. Dit is ’n seldsame verskynsel dat ’n pa en seun as die toppres teerders gekroon word. Righardt het by die SuidAfrikaanse judokampioenskapsby eenkoms twee bronsmedaljes verwerf. Johann het vroeër vanjaar ’n bronsmedalje by die Statebondspele in Wallis verower. Hulle is lede van die Tygerbergjudoklub.
Wenpad Bellville-Suid (287/7, gesl.) is op die wenpad teen Avendale (155), wat sal moet opvolg nadat hy deeglik gekarnuffel is deur Saiet Pieters (4/55 en 49), Mbullo Nkomo (3/9), Llewellyn Wales (55), Ricardo Mentoor (51), Clinton Gelderbloem (41) en Nigel Dirks (37). Noordelikes-Goodwood (171 en 35/2) se wedstryd teen Langa (171) verloop daarenteen baie gelykop. Ian Hunt (43), Duane Abel (30* en 3/30) en Richard Holman (3/20) het die beste vertoon vir Goodwood.
