Operation Barbarossa Boom! Pow! “Take cover! Yoshi get on that MG and light them up!” yelled Captain Dominic. I walked up the dirt filled trench and took hold of the mounted MG42. My hands trembling not sure if I should shoot and kill a living person. But I was determined to take revenge against the Russians because they had killed my father. i never thought that I would go into war at the at the age of sixteen when I was a kid. That moment when I thought of my father anger shot through me and I grabbed the MG and shot everywhere. I could hear screams not sure if they were on my side or the Russians. Missiles fired, Russian t34 tanks came up the field. And loud machine guns bursting out every where. I thought I was going deaf. A missile blew up in front of me I flew in the air I could not feel my leg and then I found out why. It was on the ground while I was in the air. What was happening, smoke was everywhere. That was the last thing I remembered. I saw my mother sobbing, my three year-old sister sitting quietly beside me. I got her up and I stood as every body was starting to leave. Relative and friends all coming up to to tell us sorry for our loss. They say his fighter jet was brought down a month after the German invasion of Russia began. When we got home I went to my cramped bedroom to pack my things to get ready to go to war to follow in my father’s foot steps. The next day I was driven to base we got on our gear and I got my mp-40 and got in the fw-190 plane and when we got our queue we started to move forward and then faster and faster and the plane flew at first I was nervess but after I got the hang of it. I had had a lot of training before. I was in the 6th division we were going in to invade Stalingrad. We were in a flock of 50 planes. I started to relax for a bit when boom! Shots and missiles were firing and they were coming at us I quickly dodged some of the bullets and I fired back with a couple rockets I could see our other planes firing back one of our planes was hit and fell we blew the few Russian planes that were coming at us. As we approached Stalingrad we prepared to start dropping bombs and missiles and the firework show started and we dropped all the bombs we had Stalingrad was almost gone. Shoooo! Something was flying at me boom! My plane was falling I hit the ground hard. And it took me awhile to realize what just happened. A piece of the metal from the plane had jabbed into my leg and I could not move it I crawled out of the plane and saw 6th division soldiers. Our captain ran up to me and helped me get up. I got my gun out of the plane and followed the squad into Stalingrad. Our Panzer tanks were one of the best and it looked like we were winning. But I had heard that the Russians had their w2new t34s and they were just as good. Powerful, maneuverable and it drove in any kind of terrain at up to 30 miles per hour. I had never been to one up close. Our squad got into Stalingrad and we started to take fire we took cover in a broken down house. I ran up the stairs and pointed my mp-40 out the window. I hesitated and then shot everywhere I could see hostiles. It looked like I had gotten a few. As I was standing there thinking of how proud I was for my good aim. And I was startled by the loud screams and explosions and then a Russian soldier ran up the stairs not knowing I was there and I punched him in the face and the gun fell out of his hands and he fell with a thud. He quickly tripped me and then got on top of me and pulled out of his knife a long shiny sharp blade. When he was about to stick the knife in my stomach I grabbed up and held it away towards him. And as we were fighting to stab each other with it. I hit it out of his hands and he pulled out his pistol and pointed it at me I thought I was going to die and that these were my last moments. Boom! Boom! I am dead I thought he shot me I am dead. But when I opened my

eyes he was on the floor with two bullet holes on his head behind him was standing captain Dominic Holding a pistol in his hand. I thanked him and got up, picked up my mp-40 and We walked out and got on top of a panzer and moved on further. A lot of our soldiers were dead. Supplies were running low and the 5th and 3rd division had fallen. it looked like we were losing we could not believe it, we never lost. As we moved on we engaged in more fights. Many of our men had died and a only 20 of us remained including Captain Dominic and I. We the 6th division were Germany’s only hope of winning the war. We got to the top of the a hill and stopped our men and tanks there. At the top of the hill we spied at the Russians and saw that thousands of them were gathered in a large church. Russian vehicles and tanks were gathering up. It looked like they were getting ready to fight. We were being as quiet as we could in the night to spy on them. They were gathering what looked like weapons. As we tried to get a closer look boom! Ahhhhh! The loud screaming and shots were coming from behind me and captain Dominic we looked back and one of our men had sat on his pistol and accidently shot himself. The Russians were aware of all the noise and knew that we were up the hill they gathered everything and started to advance up the hill. We quickly got ready for battle and got in the trench we had built. We mounted machine guns into the trenches and turned on our two tanks. they slowly came up the hill and shots started firing. Missiles were flying everywhere. Boom! Pow! Take cover! Yoshi get that MG and litem up! Yelled Captain Dominic. Yoshi walked up the dirt filled trench and took hold of the mounted MG42. Not sure if he should shoot and kill a living person his hands trembled and then he shot every where he could hear screams not sure if they were on his side or the Russians. Missiles were flying at me one blew up in front of me. I flew back and my leg went numb and I then I knew why. Because it was on the ground while I was in the air. and that was the last thing I remembered. Vroooom! The vehicle drove. There was talking going I could not understand them very well. It was in Russian. My body ached, the pain was unbearable. I tried to get up but I was tied to a stretcher. I pulled out my knife and cut my self free. I got up my body aching I looked at my leg it was blown off and it heart badly. I saw captain Dominick laying in the truck. I whispered to him a few times and then noticed the bullet holes in his chest. Tears came down my eyes but I quickly wiped them away. And I saw Russian soldiers in the truck. I saw that the one near my right had a pistol on his side sticking out of his holster. I reached up and grabbed his pistol and shot him in the neck I quickly looked around and shot at whatever other soldiers I could and I think I shot two more before the guns started roaring and lead came firing flying into my chest I fell out the back of the truck and hit the ground hard. I pointed the pistol at the gas tank of the truck and shot my last two bullets booom! The truck made a loud explosion and it burst into flames. Nicolai! Yes Yoshi! The Germans are here! Tell them to get ready! Nicolai took a few steps and came closer. Are you sure you are on our side now, Positive.

fanningm: You have done an amazing job of describing the action in your story. What you haven't really described or developed is your character. He does a lot in the story, but I haven't really gotten to know much about him by the end. I also don't see an internal change that takes place within him by the end. You short story is missing these components. Think about how you might revise to add them in and make your story more whole. Inayatullah.Seraj: The internal change that has taken place within him by the end is that he turned on his team and joined the Russians.
