Chattels Valuations The Chattels Valuation department is headed by Elizabeth Talbot, a Partner of TW Gaze, and assisted by regional valuer Edward Smith. The department serves East Anglia primarily but increasingly reaches clients much further afield.

For those looking to sell, TW Gaze offers an appointment-based service at Diss Auction Rooms and its Wymondham office. Alternatively home visits can be arranged for larger collections . This service is provided free of charge and without obligation.

The strength of the ChattelsValuation department derives not from size alone (14 principal valuers and six junior valuers), rather from the depth and diversity of specialism represented by their expert and highly-regarded valuers, several of whom command authority at a national level. These include Carl Willows (Architectural Salvage and Rural Bygones) and James Bassam (Modern Design).

Valuations are undertaken for a variety of professional purposes, requested by clients, solicitors or institutions such as banks and insurance companies.

Special valuation days are arranged in distinctive venues around East Anglia so that the TW Gaze service can be more accessible and the valuation team can meet the public, much like their own “Antiques Roadshow�. Regular valuation days are held at the Wymondham office, often being themed to pre-empt a highlighted special sale in the auction calendar.

Principal valuations in this category include probate, insurance, Family Division, sale negotiation and dispute resolution. Although the Auction Rooms are in Diss, the senior valuers spend much of their time travelling to visit clients, especially when asked to assess a large number of objects.
