MEET OUR JUDGES
Mrs. Angela Terrell has extensive experience in music and the fine Arts. Most recently, she has judged the 2019 FMEA Chorus and Music Ensembles, the 2022 Music Editors Talent Review, and the 2023 Veterans for Peace Poetry Contest.
Mrs. Terrell graduated from The Alachua County Public School System and received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Hampton University. She later received master’s degrees in music education, and education specialist from the University of Florida and Nova University, respectively.
Mrs. Terrell spends time volunteering for several organizations to include Destiny’s Child Mentorship Program, the Young Ensemble Youth Orchestra, The Education Committee of the Gainesville Woman’s Club, The National Archives Honor Society, and Caring and Sharing After School Arts Program. Mrs. Terrell also serves as a Golden Member of the Mighty Mu Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Other accolades of Mrs. Terrell’s include: Alachua County Teacher of the Year, Girl Scouts Women Who Make a Difference, the Lenny Kessler Lifetime Arts Award, and the Alachua County NAACP Community Service Award. The Littlewood Elementary Cafeteria was also re-named the “Angela Terrell Performing Arts Center” in her much-deserved honor.
Hobbies of Mrs. Terrell’s include spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren, Carlos and Carrington. She also enjoys traveling and engaging youth in the Arts.
Mr. Anthony Pierce has assisted in several area pageants. He completed Mock Interviews with contestants of the Miss Gainesville Pageant, and has judged the Krimson and Kream Pageant, as well as the Miss Black and Gold Pageant.
Mr. Pierce received his bachelor’s degree in philanthropy, with a concentration in African American Studies from the University of Florida. He is also certified in social media marketing. Currently, Mr. Pierce serves as the community engagement manager at Pace Center for Girls. He also works in recruitment for Media relations, and marketing for special events.
Community service engagement for Mr. Pierce includes being an ambassador for the Gainesville Black Professionals. He also serves as the Board of Directors for the Ocala Alumni Association for Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Incorporated. He is also a member of the Howard Bishop Middle School Advisory Council.
Mr. Pierce has been honored as Ambassador of the Year for the Gainesville Black Professionals in 2019 and has received numerous accolades from his company Pace Center for Girls. Mr. Pierce considers himself a natural connector of people and resources, lover of music, the arts in general, especially live. He is a proud beach bum!
Mrs. S. Yvette Carter comes to us with a history of pageant judging experience, to include the Miss Revue Pageants hosted by Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority, Inc. She also served as an advisor on several occasions for the Ms. Revue Pageant.
Mrs. Carter received a bachelor’s degree in family, youth, and community services from The University of Florida. She also received a minor in education with concentrations in community development, and human resource development. She currently serves as the Director of Government Affairs and Community Relations at Gainesville Regional Utilities.
Mrs. Carter has been a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, for 32 remarkable years, and she currently serves as the First Vice President of her chapter. Mrs. Carter is also a member of the Gainesville Chamber Foundation Board, The Visionaries Club, and the Alachua County branch of the NAACP.
Other accolades of Mrs. Carter’s include: The 2016 Fierce Award for Business in Greater Gainesville, the 2017 Women Who Make a Difference Honoree Award, and the 2023 Women of Distinction Honoree Award. When not serving her Sorority and her community, Mrs. Carter enjoys being a wife to her husband Wade, and a mother to her five adult children. She is also a proud “Gigi” to four Grandchildren: Landon, Lauren, Ze’ta, and Liam.
MEET OUR JUDGES
Darry Lloyd has been in law enforcement as a sworn officer for 29 years. He’s currentl Chief Investigator for the 8th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office which covers 6 No Central Florida Counties. Darry is the 1st African American to hold this position which consists of supervising sworn law enforcement officers and taskforce personnel, direc witness management, and public information officer.
Darry is a Graduate of the 269th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. serves on over a dozen community boards, Moderator for Gainesville Police Black on B Crime Taskforce, Vice-Chair of the Missing and Endangered Person Advisory Board for State of Florida, Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, Chapter President of the Epsilon Omicron Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. to name a few.
Darry was recently recognized by the State Delegation of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity wi Honorable John Lewis “Good Trouble” Award at the 2024 Florida State Conference. Da has two teenage boys who have assisted him in being a very proficient “Uber Driver”.

Mr. Christopher Reid is a Gainesville native. He has a history of judging experience, including the Florida Invitational Stroll Off and The Omega Psi Phi Talent Search.
He has a bachelor’s degree in religion from Liberty University and has served in the ro 5th grade teacher for the Alachua County Public School System. Currently, Mr. Reid is family liaison at Williams Elementary School.
Mr. Reid serves his community through his non-profit organization, Distinguished Gentlemen of Gainesville, an organization he founded himself. He is also a beloved m of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
Other accolades of Mr. Reid’s include receiving the 2023 Black History Radio Spotligh the 2023 Black Community Leader Spotlight.
When not teaching, mentoring and serving his community, Mr. Reid performs as a singer in the RC & Showtime Band. He also enjoys spending quality time with his friends.

. Veita Jackson-Carter has judged several past pageants for the local chapter of Delta Sigma Theta ority, Incorporated to include the Miss Jabberwock Pageant and Little Miss Jabberwock Pageant.
. Jackson-Carter is a product of the Alachua County Public School System. She graduated from nesville High School before receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the University of rida in 1981. She later received her Master of Science degree in education at Nova University in 1988. . Jackson-Carter also holds several certifications related to her background in education, to include cational leadership, ESOL endorsements, a school principal certification, and a mentally dicapped education certification for grades K-12.
. Jackson-Carter spends extensive time volunteering in her local community by participating in a riad of organizations. She has been a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated since 1980. has also served as a member of the executive committee for The Cotton Club Museum and Cultural nter, and held board member positions for CDS Behavioral Health, The Health Promotion and Wellness lition, The River Phoenix Center for Peace Building, and The Northwood Villas/Pine Ridge Community Center.
Ms. Jackson-Carter has also served as the director for The System of Care Community Network of Partners. Involvement in additional organizations include: The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Women of Distinction Committee at Santa Fe College, The Juvenile Justice Council, The Black-on-Black Crime Task Force, and Envision Alachua.
Other accolades of Mrs. Jackson-Carter’s include: the 2023 CDS Family and Behavioral Health Services Community Partner Award, the 2023 Girl Scouts of Gateway Council Women Who Make a Difference Award, and the 2009 Santa Fe College Woman of Distinction Award. Mrs. Jackson-Carter was also the first African American female principal at A.L Mebane Middle school in 2006. She would become the first African American female principal to lead Hawthorne Middle High School soon after, in 2009.
