Twelve Trees News June-August 2021

Nutrition and Hydration week The week of June the 17th was Nutrition and Hydration week. Each day of the week residents at our Care Home did different activities.

Residents went for a lovely drive to Upper and Lower Bradfield in July, taking in Damflask and Agden reservoir so we took the oppurtunity to enjoy an icecream. The weather has been beautiful.

On ‘Thirsty Thursday’, the residents took part in a taste testing game with different drinks and had the oppurtunity to mix their own cocktails. On Saturday our residents made fruit smoothies and ate scones with fresh cream and jam. On Friday our residents were given big fruit platters and were asked to guess all the different types of fruit. A fun and enjoyable week for all.

Hetty turning 100! On the 28th of June Hetty celebrated her 100th birthday here at Twelve Trees. Hetty was joined by a few family members and friends who were all following social distancing and coronavirus precautions. We were so pleased to have been able to celebrate this special birthday with Hetty! We wish her a very happy 100th birthday from all of us at Twelve Trees Care.

In July we say goodbye to Steve who is retiring from our Homecare Team after 7 years of service. We wish Steve all the best for his retirement! From all the Team at Twelve Trees.

Congratulations to Beth! We would like to congratulate Beth, our Administrator in the Central Team on her latest medals! Beth placed 2nd in the 400m hurdles and 3rd in the 800m in the Yorkshire County Competition last weekend. What a fantastic achievement, well done Beth, we can’t wait to see what you get up to next!

Never miss a moment At Twelve Trees we always like to go the extra mile for our residents, and we recently learned that Betty was not able to attend her Granddaughter Katherine’s wedding, so instead of missing out, we hosted our very own wedding celebrations instead! On Friday 6th August at 1:30pm the team at Twelve Trees set up a projector in the lounge to live stream the wedding ceremony, decorated the home with beautiful flowers, glitter and bunting and Nicola Smith, our Registered Manager brought in a beautifully decorated wedding cake! Betty and some of the staff and residents wore fascinators, hats, and corsages to celebrate the occasion. Betty really enjoyed the celebrations with the other residents, and everyone was treated to a lovely wedding breakfast, a slice of cake and a glass of prosecco too.
