It is once again my privilege to report to you on the great successes of our staff and the clients we served in 2007. Each year, I am impressed by not only the number, but also the magnitude of our accomplishments. I’d like to highlight just a few. Our advocates fielded 12,793 calls in 2007. That is up from 7,103 in 2004. Law enforcement referrals were up 44%. This is a testament to police confidence in our services. The total number of children served by the agency was 1,660, compared to 1,455 in 2006. Our Community Outreach Program (which provides services for clients outside of shelter) served an all-time record high of 1,303 clients in 2007. I want to thank Pat Smith, the entire Turning Point staff and our corps of volunteers for their continued hard work. I am amazed at the courage and achievements of the victims we serve and commend them. In 2007, the number of our clients who left shelter and did NOT immediately return to their assailants rose to a record success level of 78.4%, compared to the national average of 30% to 45%. This is striking evidence that our families are achieving substantial success as we to work toward the elimination of domestic violence. In closing, I ask that you consider a gift to Turning Point this year. Your generosity is essential to our continued success and the safety of our victims. Many thanks.
