Unique Experience for Au Pairs Continuing Education

Learn about the culture of Charleston and explore unique aspects of the Lowcountry through experiential learning activities and community excursions. Students gain in-depth knowledge of Southern culture, history and language, while discovering many beautiful Charleston landmarks and special events. Students interact directly in American life by participating in community-based learning projects inside and outside the classroom. Note: This course satisfies 36 hours of the requirements for au pairs. Participants must complete 20 hours of hands-on activities and 16 hours of project work. Two hours of the project work should be completed before the course begins (includes a cultural reading and presentation about the au pair's country.) The other 14 hours of project work can be completed during and/or after the weekend course.

Exploring Lowcountry Nature and Wildlife $369 Stroll with us around historic Charleston and enjoy the natural beauty of our gardens and wildlife during the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE). Topics include, but are not limited to, Lowcountry cuisine, South Carolina wildlife and nature, local art, crafts and festivals. Class meets Feb. 17-19 at various times and locations. First class meeting is on Friday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. at the TTC Palmer Campus, downtown Charleston. Register using course code: XHIS-503 3565; registration deadline is Jan. 17.

Exploring Lowcountry Culture $369

Topics include, but are not limited to, Lowcountry cuisine, southern dialects, Charleston history, Spoleto and Piccolo Spoleto festival highlights, local art and crafts. Class meets May 19-21 at various times and locations. First class meeting is on Friday, May 19 at 4 p.m. at the TTC Palmer Campus, downtown Charleston.
