ALL SUMMER LONG Skokie’s Farmers Market, located at 5127 Oakton St. and celebrating more than 25 years of operation, brings farmers and vendors from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin to Downtown Skokie 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sundays from June through the first Sunday of November. The market features the very finest and freshest seasonal produce, flowers, cheeses, baked goods and more. Farmers Market continues to proudly boast of this community-spirited event and the freshness of its vegetables, fruits, cheeses and flowers, often picked just hours before being made available to customers.

Skokie’s Backlot Bash, closing the summer season, draws 55,000-60,000 people to an action-packed downtown summer street festival. The name “Backlot” pays tribute to downtown Skokie’s heritage as a major silent film industry back lot set between 1907 and 1915. This year’s Backlot Bash will feature more than 15 hours of free live music – both regional and national acts – on a main stage. The event also features an amusement park/carnival, 5K run, silent movies at the historic Skokie Theatre, classic auto show, business expo and sidewalk sale, teen activities, bingo, food and beer, the Rotary Club pancake breakfast and more. www.skokiechamber.org
