Skokie has been named as one of America’s top 100 best places to live by Livability.com, a website that ranks quality of life and travel amenities of America’s small and mid-sized cities. Cited for its educational opportunities, diversity and high community/ civic involvement, Skokie is among only a very few Illinois communities to rank on the list. Also named one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the U.S by Money magazine, Skokie is an original Chicago suburb that continues to thrive. With beautiful parks and forest preserves, award-winning schools and proximity to Chicago, this community combines big-city opportunities with suburban charm. The Village of Skokie recently made a number of significant
enhancements to the community, including a $9 million infrastructure investment in Downtown Skokie that includes new pavement, sidewalks, lighting and landscaping. Walkcore. com now ranks Skokie a “Walker’s Paradise,” meaning residents can accomplish many errands by foot. In a recent citizen survey, Skokie residents gave the community high marks for its paths and walking trails, ease of travel by walking and also ease of travel by car and bicycle.
