Resident Information Niles Township Government Among other services, the Niles Township Government processes passport applications from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with evening hours only by appointment the second and fourth Mondays each month. To keep up with a continuously changing economy, the township now serve the working poor, many single parents and senior citizens facing the “heat or eat decision.” Other people assisted by the township have experienced job elimination, extended unemployment or illness and unforeseen setbacks that can alter one’s life. The Niles Township Food Pantry now helps about 3,800 individuals each month with supplemental groceries and hygiene items. Maine Township Government Founded in 1850, Maine Township is the oldest unit of government in the area. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for residents by providing services, general assistance, information and programs in a fiscally responsible manner. Whether it is a request for voter registration, companionship for a senior, counseling for a troubled teen or a matter involving property taxes, the township can assist you. The township’s board of trustees and other elected officials represent all parts of our township, including Des Plaines, Glenview, Morton Grove, Niles, Park Ridge, Rosemont and a large unincorporated area. Forest Preserves of Cook County Cook County’s forest preserves are home to nearly 70,000 acres of wild and wonderful woodlands, wetlands and prairies. About 20 percent of Morton Grove’s land is composed of forest preserve. These public areas offer residents a chance to get out and enjoy nature from biking, hiking, exploring the any varieties of native plants, bird watching and more. Those wishing to hold outdoor events can reserve groves with through the forest preserves for their events. Morton Grove is very fortunate to have this treasure of nature in our community.
