Village of Carol Stream ‘An Eye on the Future’
Safety is key at Rockin’ Jump. In addition to plenty of padding and netting, owners Dan Eberhardt and Shannon O’Connor re-enforce continuous Jump Safe staff training and employ trained Jump Patrol monitors to prevent overcrowding and unsafe jumping. With private party areas, the springy playground is a popular venue for kids’ birthday celebrations and other special events. “Community integration is a hallmark of our business,” Eberhardt said, citing Rockin’ Jump’s sponsorship of the Carol Stream summer concert series and many local sports teams, participation in a wide variety of summer festivals, fun runs, and parades, and the enormously popular Carol Stream Park District Just Play! event. Originally opened and with corporate headquarters in the San Francisco Bay area, today more than 25 Rockin’ Jump franchise locations are open or under construction.
With several new businesses coming to the community and existing businesses expanding their operations, Carol Stream has “an eye on the future” when it comes to economic development. Noteworthy businesses, such as Wayfair, Pilot, and Devanco Foods, have moved to Carol Stream, and businesses like Mercedes Benz and Packaging Personified are constructing substantial building additions. CoreCentric Solutions will be moving into a new 350,000 square-foot building on North Avenue, and plans for the demolition and redevelopment of another large industrial building on North Avenue are under review. In addition, the Village was recently praised for its business-friendly processes by a local building owner’s association, and the Village Board just adopted a new Comprehensive Plan which will guide future development. From the industrial teardown phenomenon, to a proactive approach to development and permitting procedures, to economic development recommendations outlined in a new Comprehensive Plan, Carol Stream has “an eye on the future” in making a stronger community for businesses and residents alike.
