May 24 – Session 1: Life in the Spirit: Biblical Foundation May 31 – Session 2: The Gift of Tongues June 7 – Session 3: Listening to the Spirit & the Gift of Prophecy June 14 – Session 4: Authority & Submission June 21 – Session 5: The Power to Heal

An Opportunity for Soaking Prayer Northern Virginia is a frenzied place, and many of us find that Holy Silence can often be elusive. We long to set aside periods of time to be in the presence of God, to rest and be still, to listen and to soak up His love. If these are things that you, too, are longing for, why don’t you “Come away for awhile” and join us for an afternoon of Soaking Prayer. WHAT: 2 hours of quiet time just to be in God’s presence. WHEN: Sunday, May 20 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm WHERE: Truro’s Chapel WHO: Just you, God, and members of the Healing Prayer Team WHAT TO BRING: A cushion or pillow; a bible; something to write on/in (like a journal), and an expectant heart. HOW DOES IT WORK? The Chapel will be open for silent prayer, facilitated by gentle, worshipful music. If you wish, you may pick up a card from the entryway table on which to write prayer requests. Prayer ministers will be circulating and SILENTLY praying over all who come, and for any written requests. The prayer ministers will not speak to you during this time, as the point is for you to hear from the Lord. You may sit, sit and journal, stretch out on the floor—whatever helps you to receive from the Lord, and does not disturb others. You may bring a pillow and blanket if you want. You may stay as long as you like and leave quietly whenever you want.

Eucharist Etiquette for Educated Anglicans: Ever wondered if you’re receiving communion “the right way?” Here are some guidelines for how to receive the elements as you come forward to the rail: To receive the bread, cross your hands and extend them palms up. To receive the wine, either 1) dip the wafer into the chalice, or 2) loosely grasp the base of the chalice and assist the server by guiding the lip of the cup to your lips. We hope these tips will help you focus on communion with the Lord, instead of worrying about the proper way to receive the bread and wine!

Genesis Arts Camp Our featured teacher this week for Genesis! Summer Arts Camp is Melissa Temme. Missy will be teaching a theatre class called “How to Develop a Character” for our teenagers in the afternoons. For more information see www.truroanglican.com/genesisarts. Melissa Temme, a former figure skater and dancer, began her acting training in earnest at the Studio Theatre conservatory in 2005 and has studied under such noteworthy professors as Serge Seiden, Nancy Paris and Denise Diggs. Active in film and television, Melissa currently hosts “Audi Progress,” the company’s internal news show, and has performed in projects such as “The Fellows Hip” and the TV pilot, “The Life.” Her time and training is also spent in commercial work for companies such as Jonas Brothers/Salvation Army, PetSmart, Navy Mutual, Baby Jogger and others. As time goes on, Melissa’s career continues to expand with invitations to audition for larger-scale projects such as LA-based film, “The Man of Stone,” and AMC’s “Walking Dead.” In years past, she taught dance and figure skating to all ages and provided media training to executives across the U.S. Melissa is now looking forward to training young actors in character development, a skill that will help them, as it has her, for years to come. Please consider including Truro Anglican Church in your estate plans. For more information contact Katrina Wagner at 703.273.1300 x110.
