An Opportunity for Soaking Prayer
Sun(s), 10–11:00 am, Undercroft
Northern Virginia is a frenzied place, and many of us find that Holy Silence can often be elusive. We long to set aside periods of time to be in the presence of God, to rest and be still, to listen and to soak up His love. If these are things that you, too, are longing for, why don’t you “Come away for awhile” and join us for an afternoon of Soaking Prayer.
Part One: Original Man—What are we made for? Reading Material: Theology of the Body in Simple Language Handouts of Teaching: Available in Undercroft NEW!! Blog: http://truro-theologyofthebody.blogspot.com May 6: Seeing and Shame (Read pgs 35–38) June 3: “He knew his wife” (Read pgs 39–42) June 10: Love Cycle (Read pgs 43–47) June 17: Exalted Vision of Man (Read pgs 48–50)
Vestry Q&A in the Common Grounds! For the next several weeks, vestry members will be available during the Sunday 10:00 am hour to address any questions or concerns you may have regarding our recent settlement with the Diocese of Virginia, or any other topic you may be interested in. Please come by for a cup of coffee, some fellowship, and a chance to chat with your vestry! Vestry members are also coordinating visits to all Home Groups and will be in contact to coordinate. Read Ahead: May 13: John 15:9-17
WHAT: 2 hours of quiet time just to be in God’s presence. WHEN: Sunday May 20 from 3:00–5:00 pm WHERE: Truro’s Chapel WHO: Just you, God, and members of the Healing Prayer Team WHAT TO BRING: A cushion or pillow; a bible; something to write on/in (like a journal), and an expectant heart. HOW DOES IT WORK? The Chapel will be open for silent prayer, facilitated by gentle, worshipful music. If you wish, you may pick up a card from the entryway table on which to write prayer requests. Prayer ministers will be circulating and SILENTLY praying over all who come, and for any written requests. The prayer ministers will not speak to you during this time, as the point is for you to hear from the Lord. You may sit, sit and journal, stretch out on the floor—whatever helps you to receive from the Lord, and does not disturb others. You may bring a pillow and blanket if you want. You may stay as long as you like and leave quietly whenever you want.
Spring is in the air Did you enjoy the floral decorations for Easter? The Flower Guild had a wonderfully rewarding time of fellowship as we created them. SPRING/SUMMER participation in the Flower Guild is for you! Please contact Catherine Woodcock for more information: 703.847.2045 or catherine@ woodcocknest.com.

TIPS 1 on 1 Summer Conversation Partner Program By Ray Fleming My conversation partner was from Iran, in his early 30’s, and studying to improve his English. He was very focused on becoming a lawyer and starting a business in his home country. We met for coffee and we would look at his class assignments and talk about our lives, our families, our hopes and our dreams. Our conversations were wide-ranging, and time just flew by. He asked many questions about America and we truly enjoyed one another’s company! After a trip back to his country he contacted me again and we have arranged to meet so we can continue our conversations and friendship. I am looking forward to it! My partner was easy to converse with and eager to share. I have learned much about his home country and have been able to share with him a little of my faith journey. Since I began participating in the summer TIPS conversation partner program my world view as a Christian has expanded more and more. Being a TIPS Conversation Partner is easy. No experience is required! You even arrange your own schedule. It’s a great opportunity to learn about different cultures, make a new friend, and share the love of God with a member of the international community. The commitment is small, the blessings are great: One Truro volunteer with One TIPS International friend—meeting once a week for one hour—six times over the summer. Time and place—you decide. To learn more or apply for the program, visit www.truroanglican.com/TIPS1on1 or visit the TIPS table May 6. Questions? Email TIPS@truroanglican.com.
