Five Signs You Need A Hair color Makeover

Volume one

out websites like Redken.com for ideas and if you see someone with amazing haircolor, don’t hesitate to ask.

1. Has your haircolor lost its shine? A simple color gloss treatment, like Redken’s Shades EQ, can restore shine brilliantly, not to mention leave hair soft and silky feeling. 2. Are you no longer getting compliments on your color? Ask your stylist to add highlights or lowlights to restore dimension. 3. When is the last time you tired something new? Instead of asking for the same shade over and over, get inspired to try a new color! Check

4. Are you having trouble keeping up with Re-Touches? Try Redken’s new Illumination technique, a fresh take on the ombre haircolor trend that’s all the rage on the red carpet. Color gradually transitions from darker at the roots to lighter at the ends, for a look that’s flattering and low maintenance. 5. Do you wear your hair up 24/7? While a constant ponytail is a sign you need a different haircut, it’s also a sign you could use a new color. A new hue will inspire you to wear you hair down and show off your great new color.

A GUY’S COLOR Redken is offering the perfect color for men who want natural and quick hair color with customized results. Redken’s Customized Camouflage Service gives men a salon service that blends gray with as much coverage as desired.

Volume one

A five minute service offers lighter coverage and a 10 minute service gives enhanced gray coverage with a little more commitment. It is discreetly applied, quickly and easily, at the shampoo bowl. The six demi-permanent shades fade naturally with an ammonia-free formula fortified with protein for strength and quinoa oil for moisture and shine.

TREND WATCH In the face of an increasingly feminized modern world the beard is enjoying a surprise growth in popularity from five o’clock shadow to feral bush; facial fur is the ultimate masculine restorative.

Modern or messy, parted or pushed, nothing has stood the test of time for guys like the pompadour. It arguably started with Elvis in the ‘50s, made a resounding comeback in the 80s and ‘90s and continues to evolve. “The form is inherently flattering and masculine. Whenever a shape is tall and narrow, higher in the front and flatter in the crown it’s a classic handsome haircut.

YOUR BEST SALON APPOINTMENT By Jamie Allison Sanders Have you ever walked into a salon with absolutely no idea how to communicate what you want to your stylist? You’re not alone! Rodney Cutler, the founder of Cutler/Redken Salons, is here to help you figure out what to do. CONSULT WITH YOUR STYLIST AT EVERY APPOINTMENT Even if you’ve being seeing the same stylist for years, it’s important to take a few minutes at the beginning of every appointment to have a consultation. “Your stylist will ask what you like about your hair, and if there’s anything you’d like to change,” Cutler says. “Let her know if you have any concerns, if you have any questions about styling or products. That way, she can create accustom hair plan to help you get – and maintain – the look you want.” TALK SPECIFICS… Instead of saying “I’d like long layers,“ try saying “I’d like layers that start at my cheekbones.” The more specific you are, the better your stylist can give you the results you want. And if your stylist uses term you’re unfamiliar with, don’t be afraid to ask her to explain.” That ‘s what we’re here for!” Cutler says. ….BUT REMEMBER, SOMETIMES A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS See a style or color you like in a magazine? Tear it out and bring it with you! “We have a better chance of understanding each other that way,” Cutler says. Even if your stylist can’t recreated the results exactly, she can look at a picture and find out what you like about the photo – soft layers, strong bangs, a cooler tone – which in turn can be translated into an amazing cut or color that’s personalized for you. WHEN IT COMES TO COLOR, EASE INTO IT When looking to make a hair color change, Cutler recommends starting slowly. “If you suddenly do a drastic hair color makeover, you may have to think about buying a whole new makeup range and wardrobe,” he says. Start by going only a couple shades lighter or darker than your normal color. If you love the results, you can kick things up a notch at your next appointment. And if you’re the type who wants a change but doesn’t want a big commitment, ask your stylist about Redken’s Shades EQ. This professional demi-permanent color leaves hair healthy and shiny with less of a commitment than permanent color! IF YOU’RE UNHAPPY, SPEAK UP We’ve all been there – you get home, and your cut or color just doesn’t look the way you wanted it to. Call you salon right away and book an appointment to come in so your stylist can take a look, and make the necessary adjustments. “Your stylist will be happy to work with you to make sure you get the results you want,” says Rodney. “If it’s within a certain time frame, many salons will even offer free adjustments.” JAMIE ALLISON SANDERS IS A FREELANCE WRITHER AND EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF THEBEAUTYOFLIFEBLOG.COM.
